Is TNA Trying Too Hard To Be Like Other Sports?
TNA iMPACT this week took a new route, as they introduced a few format changes to the show. These format changes are subtle, but in a way made TNA look more like other sports you see on TV.
The first thing I noticed was the crawler placed at the bottom of the screen, which showed Lockdown results and listed upcoming matches for the evening. I liked this because I didn't order the TNA PPV so it was nice to get a recap of events.
The other thing I noticed was the way the camera followed RVD before his match, and RVD spoke to the camera without any questions being asked.

Report: MLB Vet Unretires After 1 Day
I have seen this is boxing pre-shows before, where a camera just follows one of the athletes as they weigh in on the upcoming match. It wasn't like a normal pre-match interview, it was more like a shot out of a documentary.
TNA's upcoming ranking system is another thing that makes them different from pro wrestling of the past.
A ranking system might be cool, but I doubt it will last forever, as they seem to give title shots to whomever they want, and if they have to earn them now it might not work as well.
Lastly, after the Hardy/RVD match, the two were in the back watching highlights and giving reactions, similar to what I have seen in MMA; not as much recently, but they have done similar types of post-event interviews.
RVD and Hardy were clearly not given a script and they just gave their reactions to the match.
Some of these little changes are good, but all of them together made TNA look like they were trying to be something else all together.
What did you think of the TNA format changes?
