2010 NFL Draft Needs for the Denver Broncos
Gone are Brandon Marshall, Peyton Hillis and Tony Scheffler. Acquired are Brady Quinn, Jamal Williams and Justin Bannan.
Those big moves by Denver have filled some gaps, but the leftover holes are big enough to drive trucks through.
The tight end position is suddenly very thin. Richard Quinn, the sophomore tight end, is a blocking tight end who is a run down player. The Broncos may want to consider grabbing the extremely athletic tight end Dorin Dickerson from Pittsburgh who has plenty of upside after his excellent numbers at the draft.

However, Dickerson is a less refined player. Anthony McCoy, tight end from USC, may provide the Broncos with a more immediate solution, though his talent ceiling seems lower than that of Dickerson's.
The No. 1 receiver slot is now up for grabs. Though Josh McDaniels has offered some solid praise of Oklahoma State wide receiver Dez Bryant, it reeks of a smokescreen and the first round pick will likely lie in the hands of the defense.
With that in mind, the two obvious choices to look at in the early second round would be Illinois wide reciever Arrelious Benn and Nore Dame wide reciever Golden Tate. Ideally, Tate falls into the Broncos' lap at pick 42. However, the drafting of Benn seems more likely, unless Damian Williams is the sleeper choice for the Broncos. He's a strong receiver gaining momentum going into this weekend and could fill the No. 1 shoes.
On defense, age is the issue at safety and cornerback, with Brian Dawkins and Champ Bailey staring down the barrel of their last few seasons.
However, defensive back needs may be lower on the priority list this year, with the focus being on the linebacking corps. Evidence points to the taking of Rolando McClain or Sergio Kindle early on to provide plug-in difference-makers.
There has also been some talk of the Broncos acquiring Tim Tebow in the second round due to McDaniels' quarterback development skills. Unless their recent visit included talk of Tebow lining up at tight end, this rumor is just pure absurdity.
The ultimate sleeper pick for the Broncos? They take LSU return specialist Trindon Holliday in the sixth round with their final selection to take over Eddie Royal's return duties. He would also provide a tricky offensive option that could be well-utilized by McDaniels.
