Philadelphia Flyers-New Jersey Devils: Game Three Review, Notes and Trivia
Game Three Recap
Philadelphia dominated from the drop of the puck, outshooting the Devils 34-19, including 18-4 in the third period and overtime. Ilya Kovalchuk and Patrik Elias were each held without a shot in the game. Kovalchuk had six shots total in Games One and Two, and 25 in his five previous games as a Devil against the Flyers.
A big reason for the lack of production from New Jersey's big guns could be the game-high 31:03 minutes played by Chris Pronger.
Pronger had an assist, was plus-two, had four hits, two shots, and four blocked shots.
The refereeing was atrocious, with the questionable calls too numerous to mention. New Jersey went 2-8 on the man advantage, while the Flyers were 1-5. Dan Carcillo's OT winner came five seconds after David Clarkson's (questionable) interference penalty had expired.
New Jersey had only seven shots on their five power plays.
Jeff Carter and Danny Briere were each held off the scoresheet but led the Flyers with six shots each.

Can you name the only current Flyer other than Carcillo to score a playoff overtime goal for the orange and black?
Strange Stats

The Flyers are 17-3 all-time in best-of-seven series in which they hold a 2-1 lead in games. The three exceptions were in 1988 against Washington, '96 against Florida and 2000 against the Devils.
In Game Fours at home in which the Flyers hold a 2-1 series lead, Philadelphia is 5-1 in those games, including four straight wins. The only blemish was a 5-3 loss to the Nordiques in the 1985 Wales Conference Finals.
