Cavaliers-Bulls, Game Two: Three Things To Watch for in the Second Half

Bob EvansApr 19, 2010

After 24 minutes of basketball, I can honestly say I'm disgusted with the play of the Cleveland Cavaliers to this point.

The Cavaliers are allowing the smaller and not-as-deep Chicago Bulls to out-work and hustle them thus far in Game Two of the playoff series.

At the half the Cavaliers are winning 52-50, and they should thank the hot shooting of LeBron James for that lead.

As the game progresses, there are three things to which fans should pay close attention in the second half:

The Interior Defense of the Cleveland Cavaliers

LeBron has looked disgusted with the Cavaliers defense at times, and he has a good reason to be.

Players are not rotating and playing good help defense, which in turn is allowing Derrick Rose and Luol Deng to get open layups in transition.

Furthermore, the Bulls are crushing the Cavaliers on the offensive glass.  They currently hold an 8-1 offensive rebounding lead, which means that guys like Joakim Noah and Brad Miller are getting way too many second chance points in this game.

Derrick Rose Is Heating Up

If you were paying close attention at the end of the second quarter, you noticed Rose showing that swagger he had in the Celtics series last season.

As the Bulls continue to get second chance opportunities, that will open up the lane for Rose to slash and get open layups.

If the Cavaliers have to start worrying more about boxing out and closing out the lane, this could present a BIG problem in the second half if Rose can get hot shooting his sweet jumper.

Where Is Mo Williams?

Mo played such a pivotal role in the offense in Game One, and he has virtually disappeared in the first half of this game.

He is currently shooting 0-for-3 from the field with four assists.

The Cavaliers offense is at its best when Mo Williams is bringing the ball up the floor, pulling up for the 16-foot jump shot, and opening up things inside for Shaq and Andy.

In order for the Cavaliers to pull away in the second half, Mo Williams will have to re-emerge as the scorer that he was in Game One.

In the words of Charles Barkley, "Hey Mo Williams, we are looking for ya."
