One Brand, One Title, One Roster

OK lets act like the PG rating is not a problem (it really isn't the HBK era (Ironman match with Bret Hart) before the Attitude Era was pretty good too and it wasn't TV-14). As I was watching old promos today I figure out an issue with the WWE. The Draft and the two brands need to end.

Back in the late 1990s and early 2000s when there was only one brand and one title it made life more interesting. The championship match wasn't just about two guys and when that is over, make the champion fight another guy and another guy just because he need someone to feud with. There were always two or three other superstars interested and involved in the championship match at the PPV. If it was the The Rock and Austin...Triple H and Angle would be waiting and feuding. If the title match was HHH and Austin...The Rock, Angle, Undertaker, Kane, Jericho etc would be involved and waiting somehow. That way you had a major feuds and various sub feuds that affected the title picture. Back then triple threats made sense. Fatal four ways made sense. Elimination Chambers would have made sense because the superstars had been developing history up to that moment. These feuds were long, thought out, and had a story with different characters. Why did Survivor Series work because it was easier to have 8 superstars that had issues and history with their opponent but also history and connect with their teammates.

Today the WWE can't even do a Swagger, Edge, and Jericho angle correctly. There is too much going on. Back in the late 1999s almost everything was tied together and it was easier to give an up and coming star a push. Angle become champion in 5 months, but it was done right because he was the IC and European champion at the same time  when those titles meant something and it was more natural to move him up to mainevent status. Now the IC and United States titles are pieces of tin foil. And the lines between Main-eventer, Mid-Carder, and Jobber and clearer than ever.

With one belt and one brand, everything is connected. It is easier to push a up coming star and keep him there because instead of 5 guys feuding for the title you might have ten or 15 and you can keep them feuding with the champion and with each other. The reason The Rock and Austin do not have as many reigns as champion as Cena is because of the one brand they worked under. Austin could be feuding with HHH for the title, The Rock could be off with Angle (still a powerful feud), while Kane was with the Undertaker, Jericho v Benoit, Big Show v Mankind, the you could throw the stables against each other and all these parts could be interchanged. Now it is Cena Vs Batista (seen it)...when that is over Cena Vs Jericho (the need another heel on Raw after Batista) then Cena Vs Sheamus (seen it) then Cena Vs HHH (seen it)  etc.

How many times did The Rock and Austin feud...not many. Because there were so many players in the title picture to either keep them champion or keep them main-eventers. Kofi got on shot at Orton then nothing. One brand means more opportunity to built stars. Just think if we had one brand and one title again. CM Punk Vs Orton (new) HHH vs Dolph (new) McIntrye Vs Kofi (new) Mysterio Vs Sheamus (new) Kane Vs Sheamus (new) Cena Vs Punk (new) Edge Vs Batista (not new but fresh) JoMo Vs Batista (new) Orton vs JoMo (new) and the never solved the JoMo vs The Miz (it got like to random ass matches) the possibilities are endless. You could elevate and interchange these stars in the title picture and they would still have great competition of main-event qualitity if not in the title match. The IC and US could be spread around between these upper mid-carders and real tag teams and stable could be created. This way more superstars can get a chance to grab the ball and run with it....and Vince might find out he his a more popular star than Cena on his hands

The draft needs to be done away with and the brands need to be one again. You could keep the PG rating and keep it family-friendly and satisfy the Attitude fans with stories, great lasting feuds, and great pushes of new stars. Am I crazy or are you feeling me?
