2010 SMCAA TOURNAMENT – WEST REGION – SECOND ROUND

        #1 Butler 76, #32 Towson 61

    Butler had four players in double figures as the top-seeded Bulldogs defeated Towson 76-61 in a SMCAA West 2nd round game.  Gordon Hayward led the way with 15 points and 10 rebounds on the night.  Matt Howard added 14 points and 5 rebounds while Willie Veasley chipped in 12 and Shelvin Mack had 10 points and 7 assists.
    The Tigers had only one player in double figures as Robert Nwankwo scored 15 points and had 7 rebounds.  He shot well, hitting on 7 of his 9 shots in the game.  The rest of his teammates struggled, however, making just 22 of 56 shots (39%) from the field and 5 of 19 (26%) from 3 point range.

        #16 Indiana State 64, #17 Boston 46

    Indiana State used a 21-4 second half run to take control of the game and beat Boston 64-46 in a 2nd round West match-up.  The Sycamores had a one point lead at halftime and used the run to increase it to 16 with 13:30 remaining.  Jordan Printy led the way for ISU with 14 points including 3 of Indiana State’s 6 three pointers for the game.  Rashad Reed and Harry Marshall each added 11 points in the victory.  Redd also had 7 rebounds while Marshall dished out 5 assists.
    John Holland led the Terriers with 14 points in the game.  Tyler Morris was the only other BU player in double figures with 13.  Boston could not make their shots, hitting just 33% from the floor and making only 6 of 19 three point attempts.

        WEST REGION 3RD ROUND: #16 Indiana State vs. #1 Butler

        #24 Texas Christian 76, #9 Missouri State 55

    Texas Christian had a 17-0 run to open the second half to turn a 6 point halftime deficit into an 11 point lead and went on to upset Missouri State 76-55 in a West 2nd round contest.  Trailing 32-26 at the break, the Horned Frogs made 5 straight three point shots to vault themselves into the lead.  Ronnie Moss and Zvonko Buljan each had good games for TCU.  Moss finished with 23 points on 9 of 12 shooting and was a perfect 4 for 4 from beyond the arc.  Buljan had a double double with 15 points and 16 rebounds on the night.  Edvinas Ruzgas added 11 points while Greg Hill chipped in 10 points off the bench.
    The Bears got 13 points from Will Creekmore to lead the way on 6 of 7 shooting on the night.  Jermaine Mallett chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds in the loss.

        #8 Arizona State 59, #25 DePaul 50

    Arizona State shot 47% percent from the field and played solid defense in grinding out a 59-50 win in a 2nd round West contest.  Derek Glasser ended up being the only Sun Devil in double figures, scoring 12 points on 5 of 9 shooting.  He also had 4 assists on the night.  ASU also shot 8 of 19 (42%) from three point range on the night.
    The Blue Demons got 16 points and 13 rebounds from Mac Koshwal while Will Walker added 13 points in the game.  DePaul struggled shooting the ball however, making only 35% of their shots from the field and hitting only 2 of 20 three point shots on the night.
