Crazy Draft Day Thoughts

kevin lurkerContributor IApril 17, 2010

I thought that picture of Jessica Alba would get your attention. If you think that's crazy..check out my crazy thoughts on the 2010 NFL Draft w/ 5 day's to go.

Nobody knows for sure what AL will do, many on here have offered speculative idea's. Raider team needs are glaringly obvious. What can be done to solve the repetitive running yards allowed by this once feared team? How can they help the QB position become more productive and put more points on the board, no matter who is back there?

Tom Cable announced those needs for all to hear this last week. Changes need to be made on both OL and DL, secondary help and FB.

Raiders could stay the course with the picks they have, infusing more youth into an already young team. While that very well may turn out to be the case I would ask " Who is going to lead them? Leadership is another trait the Raiders are lacking in and is a key ingredient of a successful football team. That will be hard to do through the draft alone. So let's shake things up a bit and talk about trades that could have immediate impacts and address our needs.

How could the Raiders aquire Albert Haynesworth? I know...Shanahan will not deal w/AL but what if he felt like he was "stickin it to AL?" Would he let him go for a 1st #8..and a 3rd #69 ? That's alot to give up I know, but our DL would be Seymour/ Kelly/ Haynesworth/ Shaughnessy...2 players proven, that would command double teams.

Our LB's and CB's without a change just got better. Our time of possession on Offense just got better because teams wont be able to run on us like they have and with an improved pass rush ( Shaughnessy's 2nd year/ Kamerion Wimbley addition/ Trevor Scott situational ) less time to throw leading to more turnovers in the backfield and in the secondary.

Now we could use our 2nd pick #39 on OL help. Many possibilities to choose from here.

G-Jon Asamoah G-Vladimire Ducasse T-Jared Veldheer C/G-Matt Tennant are all possibilities here or...

Could we still swing a trade w/ Baltimore for Jared Gaither?  Give them our #39th pick? would that be enough to get him I dont know. That would give Baltimore #25..#39..#57 where they could get a needed DT-TE-DE.

That would leave us with#106 #158 to find the best Guard/ CB/ LB then address FB at #215

Is this possible? maybe...maybe not. But crazier things have happened!!!

Where can I comment?
