Mitch Talbot Gives Cleveland Indians Another Complete Game

Who are these guys?

Every Cleveland Indians fan can recite every line from Major League by heart and with a twinkle in their eye.

Mitch Talbot is the personification of the team assembled in the movie because, as this season opens, no one outside hardcore Indians fans knew who this guy was.

If you don't believe me, call up a Diamondbacks or a Phillies fan and ask them if they know who Mitch Talbot is. Since I know fans of each team, I can personally attest to the fact that both of those people had no idea who I was talking about, and they're both baseball fans.

A lot more people are going to know Talbot's name, along with David Huff, as Talbot became the second part of a two-game, complete game stretch. This feat hasn't been accomplished since 1996 when Charles Nagy and Chad Ogea did it.

This game also featured some clutch hitting, which the team found out allows you to score points and win games.

Grady Sizemore's 0-for-4 certainly wasn't a bright spot of the game, but Luis Valbuena came through with a home run and Austin Kearns's two hits were much appreciated.

Still, Talbot managed 18 ground ball outs as opposed to six ground ball outs. That's the kind of pitching that gets you through nine innings.

Whatever Manny Acta is doing so far with the pitching, it's working, but it's going to take more than this one game to start convincing anybody the Indians' bats are starting to wake up.

Still, six runs on eight hits is a good way to get things going.

The Indians bullpen has had two games now where they haven't had a chance to screw anything up. Anyone else hoping the team goes for three in a row?
