Why Trade Ted? Ginn Heads West
Do you notice how in my picture, Ted Ginn Jr. has been turned into a defender, lowering his shoulder in the back of his new team's secondary? Why is that? Is it because, more often than not during his time here in Miami, he has been a liability in the passing lanes? Is it because his short arms didn't allow him to reach out and take what was rightfully his? Is it because he is so talented that the opposing corners would kick it into high gear when the ball came his way? None of these are capable excuses. It is simply because he never developed into an NFL caliber receiver. But he IS an above average return man, which should have been more than enough to save him a spot on this Dolphins roster. Instead he has been shipped off to the San Fran Niners for a measly 5th round selection. It was a stretch to say the least for him to have been a lottery pick in the first place, but the reality stands that he was a top ten selection only a few years ago. Even if he never played another down split out wide, he would have been an asset in the often shaky special teams department down here in South Florida. Brandon Marshall will bring that big play bang back for the big bucks, but for what you were paying, Ginn was worth hanging on to for at least one more year. On the other hand, Ginn can't catch and his 10 career total touchdowns equal last season's sub standard showing of the Fins new superstar Marshall. If the 5th Rounder turns into a Tom Brady or TJ Houshmandzadeh or even an Al Harris, the Fins will be the ones laughing, but as of right now I think the Niners got a talented player who can only get better with time. I am so ready for some football. PS. We got to keep Ginn's Aunt as part of the deal, but fortunately the rest of his family will be joining him in the City by the Bay. Brian Hartline is sending a 3rd cousin as compensation.
