Projecting what schools will improve or regress from one season to the next is hardly a solitary tradition when speaking of the annual rituals concerning college football.

One practice takes place immediately following the bowl season. This action lends itself to the two lane blacktop of disappointment.

The salving of wounds from prior year disappointments by use of unrealistic expectations leads only to misery for the loyal fan.

Along with the obligatory belief of a repeat performance by the same successful programs, the table is set for a fall from grace.

Another inherit danger with a preview in the wake of bowl season is the unexpected departure of key players and coaches from one year to the next.

The truth is, it is difficult to analyze and preview who will be the be leading candidates for the major bowl games in September much less in the Springtime.

With all the pitfalls noted, let us expand our discussion to include not only the best teams of 2010 but the subsequent BCS post-season contests.

2. Boise State

3. Nebraska
