       #3 New Mexico 81, #35 Norfolk State 68

New Mexico broke open a tight game at the half with a 12-2 run to open the second half and pull away from a game Norfolk State team, 81-68, in a SMCAA West 2nd round contest.  With the Lobos leading 40-39 at the break, New Mexico used the run to open up a 52-41 lead five minutes into the second half.  Darington Hobson led UNM with 16 points and 12 rebounds on the night.  Roman Martinez added 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists while Dairese Gary chipped in 12 points and 6 assists.
The Spartans were led by Michael Deloach and his 16 points on 7 of 15 shooting.  Rob Hampton (14 points), Christian Morris (14 points), and Kyle O’Quinn (10 points) were also in double figures for NSU.

        #19 Belmont 70, #14 Houston 63

Belmont built a seven point halftime lead and went on to defeat Houston 70-63 in a 2nd round West game.  The Bruins were led by Mick Hegdepeth and his 16 points and 8 rebounds, while Ian Clark added 12 points in the victory.  Belmont’s shooting won the game as they shot 49% from the field on the night.
The Cougars were led by Kelvin Lewis, who had 19 points on 6 of 16 shooting including five 3 pointers for the game.  The problem, however, was Houston’s inability to shoot all night long: 40% from the field, 33% from 3 point range, and 38% from the free throw line.

WEST REGION 3RD ROUND: #19 Belmont vs. #3 New Mexico

        #11 Virginia 68, #22 Campbell 50

Virginia rolled up a 16 point halftime lead and cruised from there in beating Campbell 68-50 in a West 2nd round matchup.  Sammy Zeglinski led the Cavaliers with 17 points on the night, while Mike Scott chipped 13 points and 11 rebounds in the victory.  UVA had a good shooting night: 49% from the field, 41% from 3 point range, and 72% from the free throw line.
Jonathan Rodriguez was the only Camel in double figures with 14 points as Campbell struggled shooting the ball, making only 39% of their shots.

        #6 Old Dominion 69, #27 Arkansas-Pine Bluff 39

Old Dominion benefited from a horrendous shooting night from Arkansas-Pine Bluff as they rolled to a 69-39 victory in a 2nd round West blowout.  Gerald Lee led the Monarchs with 12 points on the night.  Darius James (11 points) and Keyon Carter (11 points and 6 rebounds off the bench) were also in double figures for ODU.
The Golden Lions couldn’t anything on the night, shooting 11-54 (20%) from the field and that included going 1 for 17 from 3 point range. UAPB made only 2 shots in the first 10 minutes of the second half, both by Savalance Townsend (15 points).

WEST REGION 3RD ROUND: #11 Virginia vs. #6 Old Dominion
