Mailbag Monday! Letters from Readers
Dear Lisa-
I am a avid Ohio State sports fan, and I must say that I am sick and disgusted with your constant dislike of tOSU. What did we do? Did we beat the s*** out of your favorite team somewhere along the way? You are a poor and sick excuse of a sports writer. You should really consider a career change! O-H-I-O and Go Buckeyes!!!!
J Arndt
Dear Mr. Arndt-
Actually, "my favorite team" beat your team at the Coliseum in '08 and beat them at The Shoe in '09—when the Trojans really weren't a very good team. USC is 13-9-1 against Ohio State and has won the last seven straight, so I don't think your reasoning is accurate, but it is amusing. For the record, I don't dislike OSU at all and think their fans are great—most of them, anyway.

Dear Lisa-
Once again another clueless article. Where did you get your information? Look on some statistics line? I don’t profess to know about all the QB’s on your list, but one, Jarrett Brown. I assume you did not talk to the opposing coaches of WVU opponents, since they all gave glowing things to say about Jarrett. Apparently, instead basing your whole opinion on 1 bad game vs Auburn. It is a shame that anyone with a journalism degree can get articles posted on Foxsports, ESPN or other sports outlets and be considered knowledgable [sic] about their subjects. Please do your homework next time before writing a factless [sic] article. On second thought please quit writing about something (football) that you are totally ignorant about.
R. Scott
Dear Mr. Scott-
"One again another clueless article"? Music to my ears. Thanks for reading me on more than one occasion. The EDs and shareholders thank you, and because of readers like you, I have a job. Props to you.
As far as Jarrett Brown, I'd say a 9-11 INT-TD ratio, 130.2 QB rating and a No. 86 ranking among 120 QBs is pretty mediocre.
And re- "I assume you did not talk to the opposing coaches of WVU opponents, since they all gave glowing things to say about Jarrett", well...I'm sure they did have glowing things to say about him! And your point is...?
I find it interesting that your argument on how good he was is based on what the opponents' coaches thought of him. I'm pretty sure Jim Tressel just loved Juice Williams in the Buckeyes' game against Illinois last year too—15-29 for 88 yards and three INTs.

Dear Lisa-
Which team do you like better? Notre Dame or UCLA?
D. Lisetti
Dear Mr. Lisetti-
Which food do you like better: brussels sprouts or limburger cheese?
Lisa Horne
Dear Ms. Horne-
Who are some of the more famous sports celebrities have you talked to and who did you like and dislike?
L. Biggs
Dear Mr. Biggs-
Dislike is a word that's unfair to use if I have only met someone once—they may be having a bad day and it's not fair to judge them on just one encounter.
NASCAR: Scott Speed was a blast. So are Tony Stewart, Jason Keller, Juan Pablo Montoya, Jeff Gordon, Aric Almirola and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Speed, Juan Pablo, and Junior are probably the most fun you could ever have interviewing anyone.
CFB Players: Mark Sanchez was very media-savvy. So is/was Matt Barkley, Alterraun Verner, Keaton Kristick, Cam Nelson, Jahvid Best, and Reggie Carter. All were fun to hang with, but Reggie Carter and Cam Nelson were my faves. Rarely do I find a player who is not very friendly—their coaches do a good job prepping them on how to represent their schools well.
CFB Coaches: Pete Carroll, Rick Neuheisel, Norm Chow, Tyrone Willingham, Steve Sarkisian, Paul Wulff, Dennis Erickson, Mike Bellotti, and Mike Riley are awesome. I think Norm Chow and Tyrone Willingham are of superior intellect—they are brilliant men who have the gift of gab at the same time. Jim Harbaugh is a tough nut to crack, but he's always good for great sound bite.
Charlie Weis is one coach I did not have a good experience with—he dropped an F-bomb at me (and another reporter taking pictures) while on the Coliseum turf after a loss in '08 and his police escort shoved his hand in my camera lens (while I was looking through it) and it knocked me down to the ground. When I asked him what he would like his legacy to be at Notre Dame, I seriously thought about fleeing the room before he answered it. On the bright side, I love ND's athletic director, Jack Swarbrick. He's very smart and represents the school well. Class act.

Dear Lisa Horne-
I knew you hated Ohio State but couldn't prove it. Now I see you in a Michigan jersey in your avatar picture. The proof is in the pudding. You're a biased &^%(*.
S. Canata
Dear Mr. Canata-
Dude, I lost a bet to ESPN's Desmond Howard and had to wear his jersey, pose in it, and post the pic on the Internet. But I gotta tell ya, I'm liking Michigan more and more as my mail gets read. You're not helping your cause even though I picked Ohio State and Boise State to play in the BCS Championship this year. Chill.

Dear Scaredy Cat-
I gave you an "A" for creativity, a "D-" for spelling, a "B+" for clarity and an "F" for courage. BTW, I "definately" do not participate in that type of activity and oh, by the way, "moran" is spelled "moron."
Lisa Horne
Who do you have in the National Championship this year? Your Trojans?
Iowa '96
Dear Iowa '96-
I have Boise State and Ohio State in the BCS Championship Game. I hate calling it a national championship, by the way, unless I am asked to refer to it that way. Since the NCAA has given up control of the FBS' "championship" game over to the BCS, as far as I am concerned, it is simply the BCS Championship Game.
