Ike Davis Isn't Getting Called-Up Soon
The other day we looked at the Mets first base situation, it’s not pretty although Mike Jacobs did homer yesterday, but not matter how bad it gets the Mets aren’t planning on calling up minor league prospect Ike Davis anytime soon, at least not according to Dan Martin of the NY Post.
“As an organization, you have somewhat of a plan with what you feel is the right baseball decision, for not only the team, but also the individual,” Manuel said. “Sometimes, those individuals can change your mind in the decisions that you make. . . . When you put a plan together, you’ve gotta kind of ride it out a little bit.”

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Translation: We think this kid needs more time in the minors and for the sake of the long-term future of our club we’re going to keep him in the minors no matter how tempting it might be to call him up early.
So for the near future the Mets first base situation is going to be a platoon between Mike Jacobs and Fernando Tatis. Daniel Murphy will show up eventually likely making it a Jacobs/Murphy platoon, but Davis doesn’t fit into those plans.
Davis, 23, has started this season with Triple-A Buffalo after splitting time between High-A St. Lucie and Double-A Binghamton last year. Because he is so young for Triple-A my guess is that he will probably spend almost the entire year there unless he is absolutely tearing the cover off the ball. Even then the Mets would probably be better off waiting until September.
