It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.  That pretty much describes Alabama’s 2007 season.   After demolishing huge rival and SEC East Champion Tennessee, the Crimson Tide succumbed to lowly UL-Monroe at home; perhaps the most embarrassing loss for the SEC as a conference in 2007.

Coach Nick Saban is doing everything he can to make sure that Alabama enjoys only the best of times in 2008.  Last year, he recruited what might become one of the best classes in Alabama history and he will have high expectations for their on-field performance in 2008.

Alabama’s offense will be led by senior quarterback John Parker Wilson, playing behind one of the best offensive lines in the SEC.  Sophomore Terry Grant hopes to continue the success he had at the beginning of 2007 and all everything recruit Julio Jones expects to make an immediate impact at wide receiver.  Alabama should field a pretty solid offense.

Defensively, the Tide return a young but extremely talented corps of individuals.  Kareem Jackson, Rolando McClain and Javier Arenas should highlight a play-making defense that could have the Tide competing for an SEC West Championship.  If the defense continues to improve, the Tide could surprise more than a few teams during the 2008 campaign.

Stay tuned for my 2008 SEC Football Preview, which will include an in-depth position-by-position breakdown of the 2008 Crimson Tide, along with every other SEC team.
