Middleweight Championship Bout

First Round

Dan Mirgliotta has this bout and gets them started.  Not much action as Maia feels Silva out.  Silva measures Maia out and waits for him to challenge.

Silva fakes a rush and has his arm slapped by Maia.  Silva kicks Maia off balance but he collects himself and establishes position.  Silva hits with a spinning back kick and then gets on his knees taunting Maia.

Silva drops Maia with a short left but he gets back up and back to the center of the octagon.  Silva fakes a head kick and then runs away and clips Maia with a right.  Silva drops Maia with a kick to the body.

From a standing position, Silva kicks Maia’s hand.  The ref gets them back up and Silva drops his hands taunting Maia.  He misses Maia and wont go to the floor with him as the bell ends the round.

Second Round

The second round is underway.  Silva drops his hands and waits for Maia.  Silva pressures  him and connects with a right.  He drops him with a leg kick.  Silva allows him to get back up and Maia is passive.

Silva fakes for a moment and then trips Maia up.  Silva defends a takedown and fakes a stomp to Maia’s midsection.  Maia dives for Silva’s leg, but misses.  Maia dives again and misses again.

Silva mocks Maia and wants him to bring it.  Maia stays patient and misses with a left hand.  Silva trips Maia up and begins to taunt again.  Maia changes levels and then takes a kick to the stomach.

Maia dives and misses and then resets.  Silva hits with a right hand and a leg kick.  Silva hits Maia with a right jab and another before the round is over.

Third Round

The third round is started with Maia faking some jabs.

Maia is bleeding now and blocks a head kick.  Silva misses with a head kick but hits with a low trip.  Maia takes a front kick to the chest and makes Silva miss with the next one.

Silva fakes a takedown and then misses with a head kick.  Maia dives on and Silva smiles and waits for him to get back up.  Silva immediately hits Maia with a leg trip.

Maia isn't even close with his lefts.  He takes a kick to the stomach and backs off.  He stands back in front of Silva and fakes a couple of punches.

Silva mocks a little more and grabs Maia’s hand.  Silva is finally hit with a left hook, but barely.  Maia hit Silva with a left to the body and then rushes in for a takedown.  Silva makes him miss and the end of the round comes after very little action.

Fourth Round

Silva looks to chop Maia down with a front kick to his leg.  Silva hits Maia with a left hand.  Maia continues to bleed from his nose and fakes a couple of punches.

Silva mirrors Maia and dances around the octagon.  Silva hits with a front kick before waiting for Maia again.  Silva measures Maia up and hits with a left hand.  Maia shakes the left hand off and resets right in front of him.  Maia misses with a left and gets hit with a leg trip.

Silva hits with a right hand and then dances around.  The ref warns for inactivity and then Silva circles Maia.  Maia chases after Silva now and misses with a right hand.  Silva looks to be mad and dances around in a circle again.  Maia puts up his hands as the round comes to an end.

Fifth Round

The final round is started and Maia’s left eye looks closed.

Silva looks to finish and misses with a left hand.  Silva then misses with a kick to Maia’s legs.  Maia dives and misses for a takedown.

Silva hits with a left jab and then runs away from Maia.  Maia comes in and hits with a knee and a left hand.  Maia pushes forward and falls to the ground and swings from his knees.

They reset in the center of the octagon and Maia misses with a left.  Silva barely hits with a spinning back kick.  Maia puts his hands up and chases Silva around.  Maia gets hold of Silva but loses him after going against the cage.

Maia can barely see through his eye and looks tired.  Silva runs circles around Maia and won't engage.  Maia comes forward and puts his hands up again.  Ref Mirgliotta resets the fight and warns Silva but it doesn't help.

Maia is too tired to connect and Silva runs away from the contact.  Maia misses with a left hand as the round ends.
