EPL's European Dreams Badly Injured: What Went Wrong?
It was over with Manchester United's exit from the Champions League. Dreams over.
Manchester United was defeated by the German side of Bayern Munchen in an away goal advantage. Day ago, Arsenal was crushed by the Catalan side Barcelona. Weeks ago, the Blues of Chelsea were out of the CL after a defeat by Italian League's Inter Milan. Well, this is the story here, out of the CL.
But what went wrong here actually?

Psychological Setback : The trio was suffering from this?
While Wenger's Arsenal was surely outperformed to an infinite extent by Barcelona in their home, we saw a shaky and mentally weak team trembling in front of Messi fever. In addition, Captain Fabregas was absent due to injury. Arsenal has rarely won in big match days recently and this was just again a repetition. Who to blame, the manager?
Coming to Ancelotti's Chelsea, they were playing against the side headed by their former coach, Jose "the Special One" Mourinho. Inter Milan was always a tough team to beat, but Chelsea were not boys! However, a weak performance from the Blues showed them the way out. Were they haunted by Mourinho?
Manchester United went 3-0 before 40 minutes, but in the end, they could not protect their goal from the strong Germans. The Germans had the confidence and the spirit to never go down and fight, keep on fighting. Where did this mental strength vanish for United? Why the fighting spirit went disappearing with tired brains and bodies at Old Trafford?
Absymal Referring : The referees never wanted us to reach the next level?
First coming to Chelsea, Didier Drogba's red card was told to be justified by many people. However, the match saw plenty of yellow also on the list, creating constraints for the tackles to an extent.
In the Arsenal-Barcelona match, the referee gives plenty of free kicks and fouls in favor of the Catalans. Denilson gets a yellow card for a justified tackle. Are we witnessing a downfall in the standards of FIFA?
United's Rafael D.Silva was the threat along the right flank in the Bayern Munchen match. This young back is just prolific and bubbling with skills and passion. Unfortunately, his day was marked early by a red card from the referee. While he has already received a yellow earlier, the referee could have easily let him go. But...it was never the same to play with such a man going out in the prime time.

Complacency creeping in: Are we really that good?
The feeling of self satisfaction might be proving too much for the EPL teams. As EPL has always been talked of as one of the best leagues (in fact sometimes the best) of the world, have the teams lately started being overconfident?
And are we really that good? We have seen how Chelsea was coolly handled by the Italians, so many good forwards, midfielders, all in vain. Drogba's exit ended the match, what about the others?
Arsenal's 4-1 defeat at the away match was screaming too much of the fact, that we still need to do a lot more, we are not that level enough.
United's back Evra made that foolish kid-like error that caused them a goal from Olic. Is it expected form a top class player playing in the EPL?
All these cannot be left unanswered. Bad refereeing may have played a role to an extent but that does not cover up our weakness.
While I write this report, I feel terribly sad. I have been a great fan of EPL since I started watching soccer. But today perhaps is a black day. Not in the club of Arsenal, not in Chelsea, not in Manchester United. A black day for the entire EPL.
The dreams are just too badly injured, with only hopes from Liverpool and Fulham to prove something in the Europa. Though Europa cannot taste like CL, but Liverpool's 4-1 home win over Benfica and Fulham's 1-0 win over Wolfsburg perhaps keep the dreams little alive.
I leave this question "what went wrong actually" to you all, all the fans and lovers of the EPL around the world. Please take a little time to think about this friend.
