Many wrestling fans were excited at the prospect of a new Monday night war. A chance to relive what was the most exciting time period for fans and for me as well. However, the result has been less than desirable.
Since the move TNA has had ratings that consistently dipped below 1, while WWE still kept ratings over 3. TNAs thought was that Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff could get the company over hump going head to head with the big dog.
This has not been the case, TNA took a "special" timeslot so as not to conflict with the NCAA National Championship game. This is a novel idea if thats all it is. But did TNA have another motive?
It is safe to say that this was more than just helping wrestling fans who are also basketball fans. This was a test to see how they would do in a new time slot. This was very beneficial to TNA as no less that 2 days after the show they decided to move to this slot 8EST/7CST.
This is beneficial to TNA for a couple of reasons. For one they will have one hour unopposed to WWE where hopefully for TNA those fans who are diehard raw fans will migrate over for at least an hour.
TNA can try to take that first hour and lure people over to that second hour. It like fishing. "Stay tuned for the second hour becasue x y and z will be happening". This is the kind of thing that can benefit TNA.
Something that could also benefit TNA in the future is something that easy E is moving to 3 hours. This would inturn give TNA their head to head time with WWE plus an hour to build up those 2 head to head hours.
Workers that have been thrown to the side and under utilized can now be showcased and we can get the kind of wrestling that we saw 10-15 years ago. So TNA if your reading get your stuff figured out and move to 3 hours. The rocket will then be happy.
