Auburn Tigers: April 9, Spring Practice Overview
While there were some small developments in practice today, they were of a positive nature. Both Coach Malzhan and Coach Roof were installing new wrinkles today. This is good news for Auburn fans; you simply donāt add to the complexity of the offense or defense until the players have mastered the previous part.
Tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen was back in practice today after missing some practices for a minor head injury. He was injured by a hit from Eltoro Freeman who also spent today on the sideline.
All four quarterbacks are still getting reps. They were working on blitz pickups and hot reads today.
Speaking of quarterbacks, Christian Lemay visited practice today. He is a highly thought of quarterback recruit. He has announced that Auburn is one of his top 5 schools to choose from.
DeAngelo Benton beat Demond Washington to score the only touchdown in the mini scrimmage todayāthis, while ESPN analyst Craig James visited practice. The quarterback that threw the pass is Top Tiger information.
Eric Smith got some good remarks from Coach Malzhan in the H-Back position. Mario Fannin seems to be toting the rock in the premier running back position.
Coach Ted Roof commented on the improved contact speed of the defense. They only gave up the one touchdown in the mini scrimmage. The defense is progressing very well.

It has been brought to my attention by the usual group of Alabama Fans that my outlook is good for Auburn. Well, I guess it is that way simply due to the outlook being good. The receivers have remarked that they are being rotated to work with the same quarterback for most plays. This would lead me to believe that the quarterback competition is almost over. I would expect some more narrowing soon. It is already common knowledge that two quarterbacks get the majority of reps.
