Fans of the Weekend: The Rest
As we demonstrated earlier, in our humble but undoubtedly expert opinion, Michigan State fans dominated the streets in Indy, at least in terms of sheer ridiculousness, but they werenāt the only ones to push the envelope. Each of the other schools provided some sure-fire Fan of the Weekend material as well.
West Virginia Fans
One easy way to spot a Mountaineers fan on the streets roaming around Lucas Oil Stadium was their choice of headgear. It may have been 70+ degrees and sunny out on Saturday, but nothing was stopping them from putting on the coon skin WVU hats. Davey Crockett is looking down and give them a fist pump as we speak.

Butler
While they were the hometown team, the goon factor for Butler fans remained low in the areas that we frequented. That could be taken as a compliment or a criticism depending on ones perspective. One thing we did see was that, with their run to the Finals this year, the Bulldogs are starting to lay down some roots with the young basketball fans in Indy. When youāre willing to shave letters into your head at that age, you have a bright future as a fanatic.

Duke
And finally the 2010 national champions, arguably the most polarizing team in the sport, the Duke Blue Devils. Coach Kās had his share of loyal minions wandering through Indy, but a few stood out. First a quartet of gradually shorter Blue Devils fans, who despite their team having absolutely no discernable connection to Elvis Presley decided to dress as their idol to enhance to their ābodyā painting. (At least we assume theyāre Duke fans, for all we know there could have been five more Elvisā meeting them in the stadium with the word āblowsā painted on their chests.)
And lastly there was the personification of why people hate Duke. We have dubbed him the Dukeuschbagā¦
Even though itās a made up word, we still think itās pretty self-explanatory.
