The 2010 SMCAA Tournament: Top Seeds and Regions

             As I has posted last Saturday (The SMCAA Tournament - One Crazy Idea),  I had developed a plan to showcase what a tournament would look like if all 347 teams were involved.  After gathering all of the particular information, I am proud to announce that the 2010 SMCAA Tournament is ready to begin.  Here is what will be featured for the rest of this week and next week...

    Wednesday:    Announcement of the 8 top seeds and their regions; also the first four brackets will be announced

    Thursday:    The final four brackets will be announced and the the entire 347 team field will be unveiled.

    Friday:        The schedules for the First and Second Rounds will be revealed as well as times and venues for all of the games.

    Monday, April 12th - Wednesday, April 14th:        First Round games will be played and 91 teams will advance to the Second Round

    Thursday, April 15th - Sunday, April 18th:        Second Round games will be played and 128 teams will advance to the Third Round

    So without further ado, I am pleased to reveal the Top 8 seeds for the 2010 SMCAA Tournament:

    NORTH:               Kansas Jayhawks
    SOUTHEAST:        Duke Blue Devils
    SOUTH:               Kentucky Wildcats
    NORTHEAST:        Syracuse Orange
    EAST:                 West Virginia Mountaineers
    SOUTHWEST:       Kansas State Wildcats
    WEST:                Butler Bulldogs
    NORTHWEST:       Baylor Bears

    Now, with the 2010 SMCAA Tournament featuring an Elite Eight, here are how the brackets will matchup on Quartefinal Friday...

    NORTHWEST VS. NORTH
    WEST VS. SOUTHEAST
     SOUTHWEST VS. SOUTH
     EAST VS. NORTHEAST

    So, with the top seeds and their regions being revealed, the 8 regional brackets can be unveiled.  The first bracket will be the bracket for the #1 overall seed and the bracket for the NORTH REGION will be presented at 2:00 PM ET.
