Manchester United V Bayern Munich, Bet The Score Line: 2-1 Again?
So the 2-1 score line has appeared as much as five times between Manchester United and Bayern Munich in the past couple of weeks.
First in the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at the Allianz-Arena in the hands of Stuttgart.
Ivica Olic put the hosts in front but Trasch and Marica ruled out the importance of Olic’s opener by scoring a goal each—leaving the Bavarians with zero points in the end.
But then, Bayern Munich bounced back in Europe with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Manchester United.
When Wayne Rooney broke the deadlock after only 64 seconds, few might have predicted that the match would end 2-1 in favor of the home side; especially considering Bayern Munich’s many mistakes in front of goal in the first period.
But a very late show allowed the 2-1 score line to stand. Frank Ribery equalized for Bayern Munich through a deflected free-kick before Ivica Olic clinched a last kick winner to seal the game.
Ironically, that match was a reverse of the 1999 UEFA Champions League final between Manchester United and Bayern Munich, which also ended 2-1.
This time, it was the Red Devils who were favored after staging a late comeback.
Last weekend, Bayern stole all three points against Shalke in the Bundesliga thanks to two goals scored in a space of two minutes.
At the other end of the pitch, Kuranyi pulled a goal back for Shalke but it wasn’t enough. Bayern Munich ran away with a 2-1 victory.
In England though, Manchester United clashed against Chelsea at Old Trafford in Saturday’s early kick off. The Red Devils went down 1-0 at half time through Joe Cole’s opener.
Substitute Didier Drogba doubled the Blues’ advantage with another goal that clearly looked to be offside.
But then, Frederico Macheda put a goal back for Manchester United…and it stood, despite the fact that he had used his arm in the buildup.
The match might have ended 1-0 to Chelsea if Drogba and Macheda’s illegitimate goals had been ruled out by the officials.
But then again, the 2-1 score line popped up at Old Trafford.
Manchester United will take on Bayern Munich on home soil on Wednesday night, with the aim of overturning the 2-1 deficit which they suffered in the first leg of this UEFA Champions League quarter-final fixture.
If the 2-1 score line comes up again in favor of the Red Devils, then it will send the game into extra time.
But what is your bet? What score line will decide the game at the Theatre of Dreams on Wednesday night?
