Pre-Draft Offseason Outlook
This off-season has already seen big time moves that have the potential to change the landscape of the NFL. Trades, signings and releases have all play into this off-season so far. To me, the NFL Draft is the most important part of the off-season, but not the only part. I will go through the five teams that have made the biggest headlines so far.
The Chicago Bears: Last year, they aquired Jay Cutler but while doing so they gave upĀ many draft picks. Cutler provedĀ he needed help, something they cannot get through the draft. Instead, they signed Julius Peppers,Ā who has been known for getting to the QB. While Peppers will help, he is 30 and in myĀ opinion was overpaid, Peppers wasn't exactly known for giving it his all anyway, so how does money effect his already weakĀ effort. The other big signing was Chester Taylor,Ā who should make a great pairing with Matt ForteĀ and will dramatically improve the Bears running game.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā

Off-season Grade: C
The Philadelphia Eagles: Trading away Donovan McNabb will turn out to be the worst move, by any team this off-season. Kevin Kolb has shown potential, but it will be his first full season as a starter and will go through growing pains. Releasing Brian Weskbrook won't hurt them with the emergence of LeSean McCoy and trading away Sheldon Brown leaves them in need of depth at corner. The linebacking corps will need some rebuiding after losing Will Weatherspoon and Chris Gokong.
Off-seaon Grade: D-
The Atlanta Falcons: Now to my team. The addition of Dunta Robinson was a great and needed move. The emergence of Chris Owens will put him opposite of Robinson and it's about time to ship away Chris Houston and Tye Hill. I'm not the biggest fan of re-signing Chris Redman as a backup QB. A kicker such as Shayne Graham is needed.
Off-season Grade: B-
The Baltimore Ravens: Anquan Boldin and Donte Stallworth were great additions and should pay off. Losing Justin Bannan will hurt, but should be able to be countered in the draft.
Off-season Grade: A-
The Arizona Cardinals: To put it in a short way, the loses of Kurt Warner, Antrel Rolle, Karlos Dansby, and Anquan Boldin will make the divison close again. The depth at WR and additions of Kerry Rhodes and Joey Porter should help off set loses somewhat but are still down grades. Overall, Bill Bidwell's lack of willingness to spend the big bucks will cost his team any shot at a Super Bowl run.
Off-season Grade: D-
If I left out your team, I am sorry but if I get enough feedback I may have a similar article with different teams. Thanks for reading and feel free comment.Ā
