Manchester United To Go for Karim Benzema in Part Exchange for Nemanja Vidic

Manchester United coach Sir Alex is reported to go for the 22-year-old French international Karim Benzema from the Spanish giants Real Madrid. 

United has previously shown its interests in the prolific forward last summer, but somehow could not finalize the deal due to a high price tag on the forward. This time the scenario is a bit different.

While United has only one dependable forward at present, Wayne Rooney is surely a big strength for United. Rooney's injury perhaps resulted in United's loss to Chelsea and in their current second place standing in the title race.

Real Madrid has been keen on signing the United center back Nemanja Vidic for a price of around £30 million. The Serbian defender has been a great resource for United at the back and has contributed to the victories of the Red Devils in a bigger way.

While United is currently lacking some quality strike-force up front beside Rooney, Sir Alex will definitely consider the offer from Real Madrid to bring in Benzema in part exchange for Vidic next season. The duo of Rooney and Benzema can be a threat to any EPL team.

The French international Benzema has failed to make much of an impact at the Real since joining from Lyon for a massive £30 million last summer. His first-team actions have come to a halt presently, spending much more time on the bench as a sub. With Gonzalo Higuain's scintillating form, Benzema is lacking the action he expects and thus he has also expressed his desire to move to a good club where he can play in the starting 11.

Benzema had his breakthrough season in 2007-08 for Lyon, when he topped the French league with 20 goals and also scored four goals in the UEFA. Though he has not been able to live up to the expectations in Madrid, he is just 22 and thus can be polished with time. Besides, how many players have actually succeeded in Real?

Will we miss Vidic? Definitely. However, given the EPL's current stats, the matches are becoming more and more high-scoring, and it is no guarantee that Vidic's presence will give you clean sheets home or away.

The young players from United's bench, like Evans and even Smalling (the new signing from Fulham) will be Sir Alex's trump-cards for defense next season. We already know that this coach can create magic from ordinary players and make them stars, so it is hopeful that United will not feel the absence of Vidic that much.

Some say that United can also ask for a loan for Benzema from Madrid, though the chances are very bleak.

The idea of signing a prolific forward like Benzema can provide United with a deadly duo upfront, as well provide a replacement for the cases when either of the main forwards are injured.

Though the concept still remains under speculation, and has yet to be officially declined, all the Red Devils fans would be delighted for a new mate for Wayne Rooney. Even more so, too, when it is Karim Benzema.
