Trade Up For Berry. Good Move?
Packer fans I have an idea for TT I’m curious on your opinion?
First off I think it is important to note that this year the NFL Draft is extremely deep. Due to the fact there is a possibility of a rookie wage scale in place by next years draft. This has caused many juniors to leave early in hopes of still claiming a big contract. It also means that next years draft will be thin because the senior pool will be weaker along with the fact more juniors will be less likely to declare early because of smaller pay days.

2025 Draft Picks Ready For Leap 🐸

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
This is something the Packers have to take an advantage of. I have heard rumors the Packers have been in talk with the Browns in the case Eric Berry would fall to them at #7.
If this would occur and only if this would occur I think the trade I am going to propose will make a lot of sense for the Packers. I have used the trade value chart to make sure the trade is fair.
PACKERS:
2010 First Round Draft Pick--23rd Overall Pick
2011 First Round Draft Pick
2010 Second Round Draft Pick--56th Overall Pick
2011 Third Round Draft Pick
BROWNS:
2010 First Round Draft Pick--7th Overall Pick
2010 Second Round Draft Pick—38th Overall Pick
With the 7th overall pick TT should select Eric Berry. He brings another playmaker to the defense. He fills a need at safety but has the ability to play corner back. Very similar to Charles Woodson in his ability to play all defensive back positions.
The main reason I like this trade is because of the 38th overall pick. It allows the Packers to bring in another first round graded player because of the depth of the draft to the team THIS year. In my opinion an early second rounder this year will probably be just as valuable or more valuable than a late first rounder next year, especially for a team like the Packers who are so close to a championship. That is why I see no problem parting with next years 1st rounder.
With this pick the Packers could go in many directions. It is more than likely at least one of the four: Kyle Wilson (CB), Patrick Robinson (CB), Javid Best (RB) or Charles Brown (OT) will be available at this spot. And if not TT can always trade back and collect more picks.
Imagine if the Packers were able to add Berry and one of the CB. It would add playmaking ability and depth to the secondary. Also it would give the CB time to develop in the nickel or dime position before they had to step in the starting role.
Or
If they added Best the Packers would finally have the game changing RB they have been looking for to complement Grant.
Or
Adding Charles Brown would allow him to learn from Clifton for a year, learn the offense, and increase his strength. So he would be put in a better chance to succeed at LT the next year.
Or
The Packers trade back and gain more picks in a deep draft.
This move would help shore up the secondary by adding Berry, the most NFL ready player in the draft, and would allow the Packers to add another play maker.
