Benfica vs Liverpool Live Score: Europa League April 1, 2010
Aquilani is going to miss his side's visit to Lisbon after suffering an ankle injury in training. This injury in becoming something of a common thing for the £17m midfielder. Rodriguez is also unavailable and it is likely that Lucas will play in his place and Kuyt will shift to the right.
Liverpool’s player worries don’t stop there, though. Kelly, Skrtel, and Aurelio are all out, which is going to leave Liverpool’s defence a little thin.
Liverpool have hardly looked like a threat on the road this season although this has mainly been due to the absence of Torres—who, unlike a lot of the Liverpool squad, is currently fit.
Benfica have had a fantastic run of home form this season and it seems more than likely that the home side will be going into the second leg with some sort of advantage.
It is likely that Benitez’s Liverpool will be looking to limit the damage done by Benfica’s Cardozo and Saviola who have proved themselves to be a great partnership thus far in domestic and European competitions.
Odds are on Liverpool to progress to the next round, but this leg has Benfica as the firm favourites and it isn’t entirely surprising. Assuming Liverpool can limit Benfica’s attacking power a draw at Benfica and a win at home shouldn’t be too difficult.
