A mock draft is always a tough thing to do, no one can predict what will happen when a team is on the clock, if there is going to be trades or a player is valued higher than anyone expected.
This year two teams have a couple of picks in the first round and teams like the Browns or the Giants might look to trade down. It's like trying to predict the unpredictable.
But it's fun to do, so enjoy.
1. St. Louis Rams - Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma
The Rams need a franchise quaterback, last year they picked Jason Smith as their LOT for the future and the next step into their offensive rebuilding is Sam Bradford.
Before today's workout, where he showed an amazing accuracy, all his draft stock rise was based in the pounds he added to his bulk that will help him take more aggressive hits in the pros.
2. Detroit Lions - Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma State
The Lions strategy for the draft is to take the best available player on the board, just remember that they picked Brandon Pettigrew over their position needs last year, the best available player here is Ndamukong Suh but they need someone to protect Stafford.
Detroit is going to pay over $20 millions dollars to Matthew Stafford in the 2010 season and the least they can do is to protect that investment, specially when Stafford already missed games due to injuries in his rookie season and Okung is potentially a day one starter.
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska
The greatest need of the Buccaneers is at defensive tackle, and what better scenario than having Ndamukong Suh available. Suh is a monster and he'll be an immediate impact in Tampa's defense.
4. Washington Redskins - Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame
This is the perfect scenario for Jimmy Clausen, he is a good fit in Shanahan's offense and Dan Snyder will love to sign his checks.
5. Kansas City Chiefs - Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa
The Chiefs, like the Lions, need to protect their QB investment. The question here is with which OT Kansas City feel more comfortable, and the Scott Pioli/Charlie Weiss connection with Iowa's head coach Kirk Ferentz favors Bulaga.
And by picking Bulaga the Chiefs will be able to move Brande Albert to right tackle, a position where he can perform a lot better than in the left side.
6. Seattle Seahawks - Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma
The Seahawks really need help on their defensive line, specially after losing Cory Redding in free agency, and McCoy is clearly the best player available and the safest pick.
7. Cleveland Browns - Eric Berry, S, Tennessee
Cleveland's secondary needs a lot of help, and numerous upgrades must be made. Berry is exactly the type of leader that the Browns' defensive backfield needs and the Browns will be thrilled if he's still available here.
8. Oakland Raiders - Bruce Campbell, OT, Maryland
The Raiders need to improve their offensive line, Bruce Campbell is the kind of workout warrior that Al Davis love and he is also a good OT.
Whoever is the starting QB in the 2010, having Campbell protecting the blind side will take a lot of pressure away (literally).
9. Buffalo Bills - Trent Williams, OT, Oklahoma
Left tackle is a huge need for the Bills, they passed on the opportunity to replace Jason Peters in last year's draft by not picking Michael Oher and that was a huge mistake, now they have to amend that by picking Williams here.
10. Jacksonville Jaguars - Joe Haden, CB, Florida
Corner is a huge need for Jacksonville specially with the Colts in their division, they got a pass rusher in Aaron Kampman and that will enable Derrick Harvey to develop without the tremendous amount of pressure he had in his first to seasons.
11. Denver Broncos - Rolando McClain, LB, Alabama
McClain is the perfect fit for Denver's 3-4 scheme, he can contribute since day one to a LBs corp that includes D.J. Williams, Elvis Dumervil and Robert Ayers.
12. Miami Dolphins - Jason Pierre-Paul, DE/LB, South Florida
Joey Porter was cut while Jason Taylor is an aging free agent. Someone besides Cameron Wake needs to get to the quarterback and, athletically, Pierre-Paul matches up well with DeMarcus Ware (a Bill Parcells pick).
13. San Francisco 49ers - Earl Thomas, FS, Texas
One of San Francisco's greatest need is to stop the pass, if Joe Haden falls this far he'll be the pick but in this scenario Thomas is the pick to improve the secondary and give a playmaking ability to the 49ers defense.
14. Seattle Seahawks - C.J. Spiller, RB, Clemson
Running back is a big need for the Seahawks, and they really could benefit from an enormous home-run threat like C.J. Spiller. He is the most dynamic offensive talent in this class, capable of going the distance at any moment, a true playmaker.
15. New York Giants - Sean Weatherspoon, LB, Missouri
Weatherspoon is perfect for Fewell's defense; he could play multiple positions for the Giants. He is also the type of leader New York's defense needs.
16. Tennessee Titans - Derrick Morgan, DE, Georgia Tech
Pass rushers are the Titans' biggest need, specially after loosing Kyle Vanden Bosch in free agency. Morgan is a very skillful pass rusher that will contribute instantly.
17. San Francisco 49ers - Brandon Graham, DE/OLB, Michigan
The 49ers need to press the rival QBs and Graham is a tremendous pass-rusher, and he's great against the run. He'll be a perfect fit for SF's 3-4 scheme.
18. Pittsburgh Steelers - Kyle Wilson, CB/PR, Boise State
The Steelers just hit the jackpot, Kyle Wilson is the best press corner available in the draft and he will contribute since day one in whatever role he is assigned. Pittsburgh corners are aging and adding some youth will be perfect (specially if it's this talented).
19. Atlanta Falcons - Everson Griffen, DE, USC
Griffen is a pass rusher that will help the Falcons' right away, he'll take Jamaal Anderson's spot without any problem.
20. Houston Texans - Dan Williams, NT, Tennessee
Earl Thomas and Kyle Wilson are already gone, so the Texans will look to upgrade the defensive tackle position. Dan Williams is a great nose tackle that will help the Texans' defensive line from day one, and Mario Williams will be very happy.
21. Cincinnati Bengals - Taylor Mays, S, USC
Mays is a good fit for Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer's scheme, and Cincinnati needs a lot of help at safety. He has great speed, strength and instincts.
22. New England Patriots - Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma State
Seriously, Bellichick taking a WR in the first round?... yes. The Patriots need a no. 2 receiver to play opposite to Randy Moss, and that can contribute while Wes Welker recovers from his injury. Also, Moss contract will end after the season and Bryant will take his place as the Patriots' no. 1 WR in the future.
23. Green Bay Packers - Charles Brown, OT, USC
Green Bay's No. 1 priority this offseason is finding a top-notch left tackle for Rodgers and Brown is the perfect fit for the job.
24. Philadelphia Eagles - Mike Iupati, G, Idaho
Iupati is the type of mauling offensive lineman Philadelphia loves to have up front, and in the wake of Shawn Andrews release the guard position needs to be addressed in the draft.
25. Baltimore Ravens - Jared Odrick, DE/DT, Penn State
Dwan Edwards and Justin Bannan are gone, and Trevor Pryce is 35 years old. Odrick is one of the top players available and would be a great fit in the Ravens' defense.
26. Arizona Cardinals - Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers
Mike Gandy, who just entered his 30s, surrendered 6.5 sacks in 2008, and gave up eight sacks and eight penalties this year before landing on IR. The Cardinals need to upgrade the left tackle position ASAP, and Davis could be their guy with the 26th pick.
27. Dallas Cowboys - Maurkice Pouncey, C/G, Florida
The Cowboys want to upgrade the right guard position. Maurkice Pouncey will be a solid upgrade for Dallas' interior offensive front.
28. San Diego Chargers - Ryan Matthews, RB, Fresno State
Matthews is a really versatile back who can catch the ball out of the backfield and block - two traits that are very important to the Chargers. Mathews and San Diego seem like a perfect match.
29. New York Jets - Golden Tate, WR, Notre Dame
New York must find at least one more weapon for Mark Sanchez to work with and Tate is a great run-after-the-catch receiver, and would be perfect in the slot for the Jets.
30. Minnesota Vikings - Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma
Minnesota has been looking to upgrade the TE position for years, Visanthe Shiancoe is just fine. Gresham will be the last piece for an already explosive offense.
31. Indianapolis Colts - Rodger Sallford, OT, Indiana
One area of weakness on offense for the Colts is the offensive line and Peyton Manning isn't getting any younger, he can't take a lot of hits at this point of his career and Indianapolis needs to protect him.
32. New Orleans Saints - Brian Price, DT, UCLA
Sedrick Ellis seems completely healthy again, but the Saints still need help at defensive tackle to stop the run, Price has a lot of potential and can make New Orleans dominant in the interior of the line.
