The WWE Divas are known as the sexiest women on TV. But they are far more than just a pretty face.
Tonight, I will rank the top 5 Divas in the WWE today. Sure they are all exciting out of the ring, but which Divas are as exciting in the ring as well? Which WWE Divas are the best in-ring competitors?
(Please note this does not include TNA Knockouts)
#5 – Melina
Melina made her WWE Debut in 2005 alongside Johnny Nitro (John Morrison) and Joey Mercury to form the team MNM. The sultry Diva helped MNM to capture Tag Team gold, but she quickly showed us that she too can be dominant.
Entering the ring with an impressive “splits” on the ring-apron, she ensued a feud with one of the best Divas of all-time, Trish Stratus. Melina was seconds away from winning the Women’s Championship against Trish Stratus at the 2005 Survivor Series, but thanks to interference by Mickie James, Trish retained her Title.
It would take nearly 2 years before she got revenge, but in February of 2007, she defeated the WWE Champion Mickie James to win her first Championship.
With her impressive flexibility and speed, this 2 time WWE Women’s Champion is constantly in the Title race.
Melina recently suffered an injury which will keep her out of action for a bit, but you got to believe when she makes her return she will entertain the fans and challenge for the Women’s Title once again.
#4 – Beth Phoenix
Beth Phoenix made a definite impact from the day she debuted in the WWE in May of 2006. Phoenix showed the physical strength we haven’t seen since Chyna.
In 2007, she turned her pure strength into pure dominance. The self-proclaimed Glamazon and quickly captured the WWE Women’s Championship at No Mercy of that year against Candice Michelle.
She dominated on RAW for several months. We hardly see this physical dominance from a Diva.
However, in April of 2008, in what some call an upset, Phoenix lost the Women’s Championship to Mickie James.
Even though she does not hold the Title, I doubt there’s any Diva that can match her strength. The only reason she isn’t higher on the list is because of her fairly short time in the WWE.
#3 – Mickie James
Oh Mickie! She made her debut in 2005 as Trish Stratus’ #1 fan. Who can blame her right? But her admiration turned into an unhealthy obsession. Mickie mimicked Stratus’ every move, including her in-ring repertoire. Who can blame her right?
Ironically enough, Mickie James fought her idol Trish Stratus at Wrestlemania 22, and won her first Women’s Championship.
With feuds against Trish and Lita, Mickie learned from them, and become better and better.
The now 4 time Women’s Champion currently holds the gold. She makes my list because she has unbelievable talent in the ring, has won multiple Championships, and seems to be getting better as time goes by. Plus with impressive victories against virtually every dominant Diva in recent years, Mickie is will deserving the #3 spot.
#2 –Natalya (aka Nattie Neidhart)
“Natalya at #2? But she just debuted!” You might be thinking. This may be true; Natalya just recently made her WWE debut. BUT, wrestling has been in her life since she was born.
Nattie Neidhart is the daughter of Jim “the Anvil” Neidhart, which makes apart of the greatest family in Pro-Wrestling history... The Hart Family. So you know wrestling is in her blood.
Trained in the legendary “Hart Family Dungeon”, you know that she is bound for great this in the WWE.
Since her debut, she has dominated on Smackdown with her technical skills. She might be the most technical skilled female wrestler ever in the WWE.
With the new WWE Diva’s Championship being introduced on Smackdown, it is only a matter of time that Nattie captures gold, adding to the proud Hart family legacy.
#1 – Victoria
To me, this was a no-brainer. Victoria has been showing her talent for since 2000, and personally I think she has been underutilized since her move to Smackdown.
This 2 time Women’s Champion has feuded all the top Divas. Chyna, Trish Stratus, Lita, Jazz, Molly Holy and the list goes on. She is one of the most gifted Divas in the business today.
Her move to Smackdown in 2007 put her out of contention for the Women’s Championship, which is too bad, because I’ve been dying to see Victoria vs. Beth Phoenix.
But things are looking up! Now that Smackdown has their own Diva’s championship, and with her friendship with Nattie, things can only go up for my #1 pick!

whoa whoa whoa right divas, wrong order. Victoria hasn't held gold or had a good match since 2005 and probally will be the first diva to hold both Diva titles, but shes no where near the level as Micke anymore.

Ross, I agree with you Victoria hasn't had the Title in a long time...BUT she is still that good in the ring. She has been stuck on SD, where there was no Titles. Victoria is still among the top , and we can't forget the past. She's the veteran of the gang.
Like I said, VERY underutilized.
By the way, the rankings were very close in my mind. But at least we have the same top 5!

Its just Mickie is the Trish Stratus of the WWE, Victoria has been working on a bad knee for neraly 5 YEARS!!!!! Shes not the Diva she once was, I'll admit she is one hell of a diva, but she working with the worst of the worst on Smackdown, I hope she teaches the new divas how its done. Mickie James is NOT Trish....yet! She needs to turn heel one more time, and see how she does before getting that status.
We all remember Trish how she could be face or heel just like that, and get the crowd so into her. Mickie has only been heel once, and that was a long time ago.
As for your "status", if you mean here at B/R, your ranking will increase with the more articles you write and edits you do.

by the way, when I was doing my research for this article, I was shocked to see that Victoria has only won 2 Women's Titles!
That is shocking considering her talent, and how long she's been there.
Another thing about Victoria, she has never used her "looks" like the other divas. Purely her in-ring talent. I respect that. She is surprisingly hot you know ;)
So for all that, shes still my #1!

Overrated? I don't think so. She has shown the most physical power we've seen since Chyna. Did you see her lift Melina and Mickie James at once? Unbelievable for any wrestler, let alone a Diva.
The only reason Phoenix isn't higher on my list is because she's fairly new to the business.

Beth Phoenix is quite overrated. She has the strength but not the technique. She has a limited move set and adds to it with only sloppy shoves and occasional slams which we are suppose to believe are impressive but are not. She lacks charisma also. She shouldn't have won the belt a soon as she did. The fact that her reaction from the fans is not too great, considering WWE wants us to think she is the best, shows that her lackluster offesnse and personality are not cutting it. She needs to step it up in and out of the ring.

Ok, but if you say that your basically saying that The Great Khali should be considered in the top 5 in WWE. YES, she has strength but she's being told to go out there and lift people up. Im sure that if they told Victoria to go out there and lift someone up or w/e, I'm sure she could do it, no sweat. Phoenix is a brute. And she squashes people. How does that make her a good wrestler?

Phoenix is more than physical strength, she can move! Just for her entrance she does a sort of back-flip on the turn-buckle.
And not all her matches are squashes (See vs. Mickie James)

Just because she can do backflips off the top turnbuckle, dosnt make her a good wrestler. Lets see her land that move in an actuall match, before we use it in an argument with her. And besides....she's not even that hot.
Also, you said not all of her matches were squashes. Ok, she put on about 2 or 3 matches that wern`t squashes, and I just seen you say that Mickie needs another heel turn before she can be considered a Trish Stratus. Well, I think Beth needs a lot more actuall matches before she can be considered in the top-5 in the WWE.
You have no legit reasoning for her to be in the top-5. Your just assuming shes good because of how she`s used in the WWE. If I wanted to judge people on how they`re used in the WWE, I`d have John Cena down as the top wrestler.

I think her physique itself, and her pure strength puts her above most other divas. You don't see any built Divas like Phoenix anymore, and he never see that much strength.
I doubt any diva (Including my #1) can has the strength to lift 2 Divas at the same time!
Remember, she's only my #4, and a lot would rank her higher.
You can't deny her pure dominance.

One thing to say, I know she isn't on this list, but someone has posted a rumour that Taker and Michelle Mccool are in a relationship, does that explain Taker getting the SARA tattoo virtually reoved? Odd one I know, I did laugh when I saw it. it's on wrestling-radio.com

yes, they are a couple its been a while. (Even photographed together), so they aren't hiding it.

As stated, it's a crying shame that Victoria has basically been buried. She's arguably the best female worker in the company and pulls decent matches out of just about anyone.
Mickie James is the complete package to me, however, as she's smokin' hot, has the ring skills and the personality to boot, though I enjoyed her far more in her "psycho stalker" days.
