Every year in the beginning of March the snow starts to melt, the birds start to chirp, and the sun starts to shine. March is a new start. March is the home of Madness.

College basketball fans have this whole month circled on their calendar. Whether it is the conference tournaments, or the big dance itself, there is always something to be excited about.

Nearly all of the 347 division one basketball schools are still alive going into the first of the month, and by the end of it, just a few remain. With all the teams working for their chance to dance, you can understand all the intensity.

This is because March is a time to prove people wrong. March is a place to do it one last time. March is a time to keep playing. March is a time to win or go home.

Even if your team lost in the first round of the conference tournament, you know that, come selection Sunday, you will have your pen in hand filling out the bracket with the same excitement as ever before.

So why is this?

The reason that we all love March Madness so much is the unpredictability. You can spend hours filling out your bracket based on statistics and past games, but all of that is useless when the game starts.

We like the Madness because of the seniors. For nearly all of the 347 division one basketball teams, their season will come down to one game. Everything that the players have worked for will come down to that game, and seeing those seniors who know this might be their last game give that effort, it has an emotional effect on us. This is something that relates to not just the top teams, but teams in all conferences.

We love March Madness because of the final minute. It seems that every game will come down to this minute. There is always something to be won, whether it is pride, or it is a win. A team is never out. They will work until the last second to give themselves a win, and in many cases it will take that last second to do so.

These are just a few reasons that we love this game. It is unique from any other sport. There is nowhere else where we see the buzzer beaters, the hero's, and the passion like we see in this month, and that is what keeps us watching.
