UFC on Versus: This Is How It's Going Down

Vera v Jones

I really hope this is the fight that derails the career of Vera.  Since is his bold claim that he would hold both the heavyweight and light heavy weight belt he hasn't done much.  The truth is Brandon Vera, you're just not that good.  Can the UFC and Joe Rogan please stop referring to him as a Muay Thai "ace".  Jones is an impressive and exciting 23 year old fighter.  He was riding a 9 fight win streak until he was DQ’d  for illegal elbows on the head of Matt Hamill.  To anyone watching, it was clear that Jones was destroying Hamill.  If I recall correctly the fight was stopped and everyone thought that Jones won via TKO.  A few minutes later the referee declared Hamill the winner by DQ.

Dos Santos v Gonzaga

Ever since Gonzaga decapitated Cro Cop and snapped his ankle all with the same kick, I've been a huge fan.  He also has taken his beatings like a man and I've never heard him once complain.  He needs to get back on the right path if he wants to be in the top of the HW division.  The 25 year old Dos Santos is on a 5 fight win streak and making his name known among a stacked HW division.  He will have his hands full with 30 year old Gonzaga.

Kongo v Buentello

Not really that interested, someone should get knocked out.  Neither guy is a contender to the belt.  If Kongo should lose, you're unlikely to see his bouts televised any time soon.

Sakara v Irvin

Hope this is a slug fest.  Neither guy is relevant in the 205lb division.  Irvin has not fought since getting KO'd by Silva in July of 2008.  Sakara has not fought since winning a decision to Thales Leites in August of 2009 in a horribly boring fight.  I vividly remember because I was at that fight.

This card should be a pleasure and a treat on a Sunday night.
