This is a look way ahead.
A year to be exact.
At Wrestlemania 27, there is talk amongst those within the business of a "WCW Themed" Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
Next years Wrestlemania will take place in Atlanta, Georgia, the one time headquarters of WCW. There are many hall of fame worthy talents that graced the squared circle in WCW and I will discuss some that I feel should be up for the accolade.
If Sting is not a member of the TNA Wrestling Roster, this could be the ultimate opportunity for WWE to bring Sting in for this very special night.
It would be great to see Sting back on a major stage in wrestling where he belongs...and who knows? Maybe Mr. McMahon could convince The Stinger to have a couple of dream matches with the WWE's best?
Another man that is deserving is Lex Luger. There are many conflicting feelings on Luger within the wrestling business and I, for one, am not necessarily a Luger fan.
But I will admit, Lex Luger deserves to be in the WWE Hall of Fame.
Not withstanding all of his accomplishments in WCW, how could anyone not remember "The Lex Express?" This was one of the most monumental build-ups to a title match I can remember.
It all started with Luger slamming Yokozuna and then becoming the next American hero in wrestling. The build-up was fantastic...the payoff, not so much. Either way, Lex Luger deserves his spot in history.
Three legendary tag teams come to mind.
The Road Warriors were true pioneers in wrestling. Two tough as nails big men that took no prisoners in or out of the ring.
Hawk and Animal were successful and made money wherever they decided to roam within the wrestling business. They spent most of their career in the NWA and later, WCW in between stints with the WWE and Japan.
The Steiner Brothers were unbelievable in their time.
Scott Steiner brought the hurricanrana to American mainstream wrestling and dubbed it "The Frankensteiner."
Rick Steiner brought a rugged toughness with his countless "Steiner-lines" and back-shattering suplexes. Together, these two ruled tag team wrestling in WCW for years.
Big Poppa Pump and The Dog Face Gremlin would be perfect candidates to be inducted into the 2011 Wrestlemania Hall of Fame.
Last, but certainly not least, I would induct those guys from Badstreet USA! The Fabulous Freebirds are a group of wrestlers that really transcended the industry.
They started the rock 'n' roll connection between wrestling and music. Don't listen to what the WWE tells you.
Michael 'PS' Hayes was the first guy to introduce true rock 'n' roll entrance music.
Terry "Bam Bam" Gordy was one of the most agile big men to ever grace the squared circle. He is just one of too many wrestlers that left us all at way to early of an age. He is also the father of Jesse, or Slam Masta J, on WWE Smackdown.
Buddy Roberts was a true life tough guy with countless matches and ring experience to give him credibility enough to be a member of The Freebirds.
I'm sure there are many more and probably too many to list. Ron Simmons comes to mind and Vader does also.
If this truly is what the WWE has in mind for the Hall of Fame at Wrestlemania 27, then I am ALL for it.
