Does LeBron's Number Change Show He Wants to Stay In Cleveland?

The news has hit that LeBron James plans to personally retire his use of number 23 as an homage to Michael Jordan.  However, might this also show that he is currently leaning toward remaining a Cleveland Cavalier?

The rules in the NBA allow a player to change his number if he signs with, or is traded to a new team.  If they are remaining with their current team, they must appeal their number change to the league.

What would the purpose of LeBron filing to switch his number to six if he were planning to sign with a new team as a free agent this summer. You cannot ignore the subtext of this move.

He is obviously pleased with the team he is playing with currently, and it will most likely be the one he will be playing with next year were he to re-sign with Cleveland.

The Cavs are currently playing without their two seven-footers, with Shaq out for thumb surgery and Z out in free-agent limbo.  Considering these two, the two oldest Cavaliers currently on their roster (or to be on their roster by March 22nd) both have questions to whether they will be playing with Cleveland next year.

The Cavs decimation of the Knicks (yes I know it was the Knicks, a team whose only legitimate starter is David Lee and maybe Tracy McGrady) shows that this team is full of youth and potential.

JJ Hickson looked like a future All-Star last night while new arrival Antawn Jamison finally looked like the man he was in Washington.  Bench players Delonte West and Anderson Varejao also showed that they could be starters on the majority of the other teams in the NBA.

The facts are there right in front of everyone, and LeBron's recent actions are ripe with subtext and are there for the analyzing.  It seems to me, right now at least, that King James wants to continue his reign in Cleveland rather than uprooting his kingdom to another, less capable, franchise.
