Tiger Will Be Talking, But Will He Be Really Saying Anything?

Mark PepponiFeb 18, 2010

The wait is over. Or is it?

Funny thing happened since my last article on Eldrick. I talked to many a person about what exactly Tiger should say when he decides to come clean.

Too bad no one expects the press conference to be any sort of mea-culpa. In fact, there will be no questions even taken by Tiger at the conclusion. Not really what I wanted to see, but now completely what I expect after debating with various friends and colleagues.

The excitement is near. Feels almost like the final episode of the Sopranos. It will probably end in a similar fashion as well. Kind of fading to black, leaving us all wondering just what happened or what we thought we heard.

Almost three months after Eldrick got jammed up in a multitude of shady, secret, illicit sex-capades, he's now ready to talk. Personally I'm dissapointed since I know everything that will come out of his mouth will be a canned, robotic, curt and emotionless attempt at an apology the way that Tiger feels it should be.

Its also a little coincidental that all this is taking place while the Accenture tournament is going on huh? You can tell me its not about payback, but its about payback for them dropping Tiger like a hot potato.

Many people don't think Tiger owes anyone an apology. I disagree. He owes the sport he has made millions from an apology for embarrassing it. Golf has treated Tiger like royalty, and he is basically dropping a deuce on them with this anticipated half-hearted press conference.

I started out not really caring for Tiger early on in his career. I like emotion and fire and people who aren't afraid to wear their emotions on their sleeve on and off the course. I like emotion when people do good and even when they don't succeed.

Unfortunately, tomorrow we will most likley not get to see that emotion as this press conference.
