Here is the latest as of 10:23 PM EST.

The two clubs have agreed to a trade of Caron Butler, Brendan Haywood, and Deshawn Stevenson in exchange for Josh Howard and Drew Gooden.  The trade will be finalized around Monday.  (Marc Stein of ESPN broke the story, others have confirmed)

8:05 PM EST

Caron Butler for Josh Howard will happen.  The pieces are either going to be Butler/Deshawn Stevenson for Howard/Quinten Ross or Tim Thomas.

Or, a new report saying the trade could be Butler/Brendan Haywood/Stevenson for Howard/Drew Gooden.  Either way, Butler for Howard is happening.

Troy Murphy from Indiana is on the table.  Cavs GM Danny Ferry was after Antawn Jamison as target No. 1.  However, the most recent report is the Cavs are going after Amare Stoudemire.   Cleveland GM Danny Ferry and Steve Kerr met this afternoon in Dallas.

Boston: After talks of Butler/Jamison for Ray Allen and change fell through (despite Celtics GM Danny Ainge's denial), they are still interested in a lesser deal for Jamison that would involve Allen.  With Cleveland, Boston's rival to return to the NBA Finals, in serious talks for Stoudemire, or Troy Murphy as a fallback, there is little question in my mind that Boston has to make a move to stay competitive.

Miami: The team was a dark horse to go after Stoudemire to appease Dwyane Wade, but the chances are slim of such a move.
