Skid Row: Boston Bruins Need Difference Maker
Coming out of their four-day break after being throttled by Carolina, the Bruins have shown better effort, but they are getting the same results.
Losses.
The Bruins win-less skid has reached seven games. Their home losing streak has now hit six games.

After the shootout loss to the Los Angeles Kings, Bruins goalie Tim Thomas said, āWe worked our way back to the level of frustration, at least,āā said Thomas (27 saves). āIt was beyond frustration before. We had two games where weāve played really hard and worked really hard. We got one point tonight. I sure wish we could have finished it off. But weāre headed back in the right direction, I think (taken from Boston.com).āā Ā
Right direction?
Come on, Timmy!
Almost is only good in horseshoes and hand grenades.
But believe it or not, the listless Bruins are only one point out of a playoff spot. They are hanging on by their bear claws. Boston is an abysmal 1-8-2 in their last 11 games.
After watching the Bruins' last two losses to Buffalo and Los Angeles, one thing was strikingly apparent, they need a difference maker.
A sniper.
A stud.
The longer the Bruinsā brass wait, Bostonās downward spiral will continue.
The look on Team VPās face, Cam Neely after the Kingās first goal, told the whole story. He head a scowl on his face like Sea Bass, the crazed trucker he portrayed in āDumb and Dumberā with Jim Carrey.
Frustration has set in with the players and management alike.
A shake up needs to happen and quick.
Boston is at the bottom of the league in scoring after being an offensive juggernaut last year. In close games, they need a player that will look at his teammates and say, āHey boys, hop on my back and I will carry us!ā Ā
That player is not on this roster right now.Ā
Kopitar is the x-factor in L.A. who single-handedly beat the Bruins on their home ice.Ā
Ovechkin is that guy for Washington.
Crosby is that sniper for Pittsburgh.
Alfredsson and Spezza are those guys in Ottawa, winners of nine straight.
Could Kovalchuk be that stud for the Bruins?
Could Martin St. Louis be that spark plug they need?
As I have said recently, a deal needs to happen on whatever scale. This team needs a kick in the hind quarters. They need a shot in the arm, leg, or whatever body parts which will help them regain their shattered confidence.
The Bruins walking wounded are back (accept Andrew Ference, who is a non-factor anyways), so the injury bug can no longer be used as an excuse.
They need leadership, excitement, and self confidence, which is all lacking on this roster at the moment.
The 2009-2010 Bruins in their current state, may win a round if they even make the playoffs.
Is that good enough in the Hub of Hockey?
Hell no!
Peter (Chiarelli) and Cam (Neely), if you guys are listening, itās time. There is no more waiting. Maybe you even consider trading that Toronto pick (which I have teeter tottered on myself) to right the wrongs with this squad.
Your team looks like a band of dead men walking. Their heads are always down. There is little fight in their eyes.
They are sending you a S.O.B. (Save Our Bruins), as are their fans.
