Sleeper Team To Watch: Oklahoma City Thunder

The Thunder have the makings of team that can be special, an all pro type player

in Kevin Durant, an underrated PG in Westbrook and another underrated player in

Green. As of right now the Thunder are 1/2 GB of the playoffs and are a big physical

body away from becoming a contender.  Many feel the Thunder will be contenders in

the next few years and many also have them making the playoffs this year.  If the

Thunder wanted to they could be contenders this year, the Thunder have the pieces

to land a big name player and if they were to pull off a move that would bring them a

big body they could get a decent seeding.

The only problem for the Thunder would be their GM has stated they are fine with

what they have and will use the salary cap money they have to extend their current

players.  Can't argue with that, however if they were to pull off a deal that landed

them Amare Stoudemire they could be considered the second best team in the West.  I

do expect them to make a trade before the deadline but I think it could involve New

York's David Lee, the Knicks may be willing to part with Lee as they are focusing on

2010 and may be willing to take a pair of 1st rd draft picks.  Lee would certainly help

the Thunder in there run for the playoffs and is much more likely then Amare, however

if Amare Stoudemire is traded, the Thunder are the sleeper team to land him.
