Celtics @ Magic: What a Game!
This turned out to be a great game as expected. The first half made me think the Celtics were going to run away with it pretty easy, but the Magic started to play better in the third quarter, and managed a huge run in the forth to make it a nail bitter, and eventually they came out with the win at Amway Arena.Ā
The Celtics were getting it done with defense. Ray Allen was having a good shooting game, only backed up by Sheed, who was solid all game and got a few big buckets in the forth. The rest of the team didn't seem too sharp. Kevin Garnett is coming back from his injury and it seems he is still 50% or something like that. He couldn't finish an alley oop, he seemed slow and clumsy on his moves, and the only way he could score was pump faking an over-excited Gortat and go to the line. They need to get Garnet back on form if they want to challenge for the championship this year.Ā
Dwight Howard was quite all game long, till finally in the forth quarter he got the ball, maned up, and took it to the hole. He scored in four consecutive possessions, and none of them was a dunk, they were all solid post moves. I know, you are reading it right, all face ups and/or jump hooks. There you go Dwight! Now just get your Ft % up, also keep listening to Patrick Chewing. While Howard was gone for 3/4 of the game, Rashard Lewis was the leader of the comeback. He went into runs, and scored some clutch shots to keep the Magic in the game. One of those clutch shots was a strong drive to the hoop with a limping Garnet trailing him that turned out to be the game winning bucket. I also have to mention the most memorable shot of the game: A BANK SHOT FROM GORTAT when the game was really close. No one in the stadium, scratch that, no one in the world (not even his family watching the game on tv) could believe that one went in.. Oh and yes, JJ Redick shot a 3 from south america to tie the game with 40 seconds left!Ā
The Magic are starting to get it together after some up and downs this year. For the Celtics is going to be tougher if Garnett can't fully recover. I love Garnet's passion for the game (like everyone does I am sure), but it seemed that he was more of a liability tonight than an asset. I know he is their emotional leader, and the heart of the team, but he needs to be at least 80% to comeback and help them.
