The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens have always prided themselves around defense. For the past few years their defenses have been some of the most dominant in the game today.

While some may say Ray Lewis and Ed Reed make the Ravens' defense great and Troy Polamalu and James Harrison make the Steelers' defense great, remember they are not the only people on the defense. Everyone single player makes an impact somehow.

So lets first take a quick look at their defenses from this year.

The Steelers defense was ranked #5 overall being #3 against the run and #16 against the pass. The Ravens defense was ranked #3 overall being #5 against the run and #8 against the pass. Both teams finished with a record of 9-7.

Now I'm going to break down the defense into several categories and decide who has the advantage.

TACKLING Both teams have great tacklers, they don't seem to miss to many. But because the tackling stat isn't exactly accurate, I'm giving tackling to both teams. EVEN

SACKS Both teams are great at sacking the QB. But the Steelers do it more on a consistent basis and have finished in the top 5 of sacks every year. The Ravens are great at sacking the QB, but not as good as the Steelers. ADVANTAGE STEELERS

INTERCEPTIONS  It's all about the turnovers. This is the part where having Ed Reed helps the Ravens. He has 48 picks with the Ravens and have taken 6 back for TD's. The Steelers pick off the ball a lot as well but this one goes to the Ravens. ADVANTAGE RAVENS

FORCED FUMBLES Once again it's all about the turnovers. Both teams love to strip the ball from an opponent especially the QB. The sack strip is very famous between these two teams. This one is close so this ends in a draw. EVEN

My pick is the Steelers. Do you agree with me? Let me know in the comments.
