Margarito Should Be Banned in Boxing
These questions has been going around my mind for quite some time if someone is attempting a murder but was spoiled right before going through the whole process of killing someone would he be convicted as a frustrated murderer? Or if someone wants to steal something but was intercepted right before he steps through the yard of his would-be victim would he be convicted as a burglar? The answer would probably a yes or a no but it all depends on one solely justification the word evidence…
Boxing has been through a lot of controversies and as a contact sport putting something to your body like PEDS or steroids and illegal hand wraps to gain advantage could really be damaging it could permanently disabled your opponent or even death. I remember the documentary “Assault in the ring” which featured the ill-fated bout between Billy Collins Jr. and Luis Resto and can be downloaded at this http://sportsalchemist.com/?page_id=29 link. Luis Resto connived with Panama Lewis and almost killed Billy Collins Jr. as they place plaster of Paris on Resto’s hands it was like adding a block of cement around his hands and one punch can be really deadly. The story ended with Resto unemployed, Billy Collins Jr. died on a freak car accident then Panama Lewis continues to spread his malice and mischief in boxing till now.
Antonio Margarito who has been banned for a year after placing illegal handwrap against his fight with Shane Mosley will be applying a license in Texas to fight on Manny Pacquiao and Joshua Clottey’s undercard. Yes he has a year to think about his wrong doings but what seems wrong about this picture was that what if Naseem Richardson, Shane’s coach never found Margarito’s illegally wrap hands? What will happen to Shane? Would he also take a knee like Cotto? And at age 38 will his body can still carry that punishment? We never know how long Margarito was using those loaded hands but it’s certainly not the first time he has been using those plasters. It’s guys like Margarito that stained boxing and he should be banned for life for using those. I know I am a bit harsh towards Margarito but there are also implications for cheating. He could have known the consequences or what if he was on the other shoe? A single punch with or without plaster of Paris can already damage a number of brain cells. He is not concern about winning he is more concern about hurting his opponents more and goons like that should not be allowed to lace a boxing gloves.
There was evidence, and he was convicted but he is treated like he was innocent. Once again boxing had another blow
