Anderson Silva's Manager: "He's Got a Good Eight or Nine Fights Left in Him"

More from Anderson Silva's mouthpiece, manager Ed Soares, courtesy of MMA Weekly

"I think the important thing is to really create the biggest fights possible. I think Anderson's got a good two, three years probably. He's got a good eight or nine fights probably left in him for sure, maybe more.

"He doesn't take too much damage, and the fact that he doesn't take damage in the fights, it's really more or less the training...He just wants to challenge himself and be involved in some of the biggest fights that the UFC can put together."

One is left to wonder whether or not this is Soares talking on Silva's behalf or on his own. There has been a lot of mystery over the last year as to what Silva really wants, courtesy of Ed Soares.

Recall after Silva's thrashing of Forrest Griffin at UFC 101, Dave Wetzl of Yahoo! Sports transcribed the following scene at the post-fight press conference:

With his arm wrapped around White’s shoulder, Soares leaned in and delivered a proposition. “Spider” Silva would move permanently to light heavyweight, even if it meant the unorthodox move of giving up his middleweight belt.

“I can do that,” White smiled, a bit stunned at the offer. “I like that. We can do that.”

Soares later came out and said:

“It’s not true. I never said that to Dana. I never said he would move up and relinquish the title. I have said to Dana that he’d like to fight again at 205. I’ve always said the same thing, he wants the biggest fights possible, whether it’s at 205 or 185.”

The recurring theme seems to center around "biggest fights possible", whether that's in the octagon...or against Roy Jones Jr.?

So is this more posturing from the powerful Black House Manager?

Fans can only hope that Silva wants to remain in the octagon longer than what he has stated in the past. After his fight with Vitor Belfort, Silva will have two fights left on his contract.

That is when things will get down to brass tacks and fans will know for sure how long "The Spider" wants to spin his web of terror upon mere mortal MMA fighters.

Anything seems possible with the Ed 'n' Andy show. We'll be back after this short commercial break.
