Brian Viloria Must Love Himself Before Anything Else

Brian Viloria was the product of expectations since he started lacing his gloves. A decorated amateur and a former Olympian all eyes were on Brian from his first professional fight up to his stunning first round knockout win to former champion Eric Ortiz. He was widely embraced by his fighting style and was called the Hawaiian punch. After losing to Omar Romero and Edgar Sosa the hype all died down and since then Viloria has won five straight wins with no extra weight on his back and for the first time he was free and was fighting for himself. He doesn’t care if he fights on a make shift tent or in an undercard fight supporting unknown fighters main event a far cry from a former world champion who fought in front of thousands of supporters. He really doesn’t care as long as he is winning and brought him back to championship form. Brian captured his second world title when he knocked Ulises Solis out on their IBF light flyweight fight right in front of thousands of cheering Filipinos in Araneta Coliseum. Ironically he lost his crown in front of the same crowd who embraced him as their own. Brian was leading almost all scorecards when he was stop by the Colombian slugger Carlos Tamara in the 12 and final round. He could have box and move all night long but instead fought Tamara’s game and slug it out all the way till there was no pop on his punches. The crowd chanted “Viloria, Viloria” and Brian right there and then abandoned his game plan and try to slug it out with Tamara. Once again Brian was back to his familiar spot when he won his first belt. Everyone expected him to knock his opponent, everyone wanted him to give them a good fight and because he wanted to make everyone happy he was fighting with an added pressure. Brian collapse on his dressing room and have to be taken to a hospital and thankfully all results turned out negative and on his way to recovery. If referee Bruce Mctavish didn’t stop the fight who knows it could have been the last time we saw Viloria lace his gloves. He was clearly exhausted and his eyes were already dreamy a second late would be dreadful.
Brian is back to square one back to his old self and out to the realms of expectations. He still has years ahead of him and he could also contemplate in retiring. Boxing fans have seen Brian from up all the way down and brought himself back. He doesn’t have to fight with a chip on his shoulders he has his own head and his own shoes and he knows where he wants to go you have made us proud and now it’s time to move on and learn to love yourself before anything else.
