This has been quite the weekend for Oregon fans.

We may be looking at the best recruiting class of all time; however, we may now also be looking at a season without Jeremiah Masoli.

According to this report, as well as two sources inside the campus, Masoli was involved in a theft on the Oregon campus last night, a potentially career-ending move.

There was a frat party going on all night on campus, and the university was robbed of Mac laptops (confirmed), as well as projectors and a guitar, according to Twitter.

This is huge. This isn't some LeGarrette Blount socking a guy in the face; this means whoever did this will be facing jail time and a boot from the university.

While nothing is official at this point, several witnesses state they saw Masoli and WR Garrett Embry in the act. Let's all hope and pray this isn't true...

Embry has been in trouble with the team before, and Masoli has a record of theft, so if either one of these two did it, they will lose their place at the U of O for sure.

Now, another source inside the campus said Masoli is protected legally and won't be talking to the cops in any way. Either this thing was a hoax, or Masoli will be protected according to this guy (who has the same attorney as Masoli).

If that's true, we can breathe a sigh of relief and know he'll be back next year.

But what about Embry? Or whoever actually did this?

Whoever is proved guilty will most likely be kicked off the team and get his scholarship taken away. Theft is no small thing...

Which brings me to the second point of this article: Muggings.

It's been reported that Ducks' kicker Rob Beard was mugged (that same night) and is now in the hospital. Related? Quite possibly. He stepped in to help his friend during a physical confrontation of about 20 people. He was placed in critical care, but now it's reported his situation has stabilized.

Investigation Update (1/25 5:30 p.m.):

According to this, police have no one in custody, although the victim of the theft has identified two players he believes to be the thieves (Masoli and Embry). They were both unsuccessfully contacted, and Chip Kelly is "looking into it." The university has yet to make a statement.

I'll keep updating this as more info comes in...

Masoli and Embry NOT considered suspects (1/25 8 p.m.)

Right now, police reports/ news reports have indicated they have no official suspects at this point. The investigation is ongoing; Masoli and Embry have yet to make a statement or come forward to say anything. At this point it doesn't look like Masoli was involved.

Rob Beard Update (1/25 8:10 p.m.)

Rob Beard is ok! After a confrontation of about 20 people following the frat house theft, Rob Beard was severely beaten defending fellow placekicker Mike Bowlin. Beard was in "good spirits and even took phone calls and text messages" according to the RegisterGuard.

He had to undergo more surgery, but his injuries aren't critical at this point.

And police have yet to catch who is responsible...

Rob Beard will be released (1/26 9:00p.m.)

Tomorrow, according to the Register Guard and other sources, Beard will be released from the hospital and marked with a clean bill of health. I'm sure he'll be shaken up for a while, but there won't be any long lasting injuries.

Until this whole "he said she said" fight about the theft blows over, I doubt we'll see any investigation about who did this.

Police have made an arrest in the Rob Beard beating (1/28 6:30am)

So after an investigation into the beating after the party, police have made an arrest. Maurice Dion Peterson III was taken into custody yesterday and has been charged with 2nd degree assault.

I'll update as more info comes in.
