Vince McMahon Focuses on WWE Movies Will You Watch?
Wrestling fans it has become apparent that WWE films is going to bust out with several films during this year. The question has to be whether this is a good thing for WWE or not?
If we look at this from a financial standpoint WWE does not really have much to lose since they do not invest much in their films in the first place. All of the WWE films have had very modest budgets and have been able to recover much of the money used in making them. The fact is that this looks like a good way for WWE to market itself.

A testament to the fact that WWE films are good buisness can be seen in that they have usually made more money than they have cost to produce. Also all of the WWE films have been relatively decent from a theatrical perspective. The Rocks movies such as the "Scorpion King" and "The Rundown" appear to be the most sucessful films even though WWE co produced and did not have complete production power.
I feel that Vince Mcmahon is very smart in choosing his pro wrestlers to be his stars since he only increases their value as performers. Putting athletes such as John Cena in multiple films is great because it also puts him into the category of actor. I am hesitant to say movie star due to the fact that the Hollywood industry has yet to fully embrace Cena. The fact remains though that being the lead actor in a theatrical release only enhances the wrestlers credibility as entertainers.
I am not sure as to the future of WWE films but one thing for sure is that this year of 2010 it will be a priority for WWE. So far we have Cena and Undertaker along with Big Show being set up with their own films. It would be my hope that this financial venture will be a success for WWE inc. so that we may get more films showcasing the talents of our favorite superstars.
