Could a Mike and Mike Be Skins Answer To Run Game
We have all heard aboutĀ Clinton Portis. We have heard the locker room grumbles, poor conditioning habits, none participation in team activities, and lack of respect forĀ players and coaches. So what do with him in the off season is the question that comes to most of our minds. WellĀ something has to be done weather they release him in this uncapped year or trade him. The reason for this column and the other questions that come to mind is who will replace him.Ā
Let's take a minute and see what we are really talking about here. Mike Shanahan is the coach. Kyle Shanahan OC and Bobby Turner long time Denver RB coach. So we can almost garuntee a stable of RB's and a zone blocking O-line. What would be more fitting then to bring back someone who already knows this scheme and is a team player, doesn't mind sharing touches. In comes Mike Bell.

2025 Draft Picks Ready For Leap šø
Thats right the same Mike Bell that was drafted by Mike Shanahan in Denver and is now on the hunt for the Super Bowl with New Orleans.Ā He will be a free agent atĀ when the free agency opens andĀ I have not heard of the Saints trying to resign as of yet. IĀ know he will be 27Ā before this year starts and there will be alot of people say he is to old, draft a young guy. The point here is he has a quarter of the carries that a solo starting RB has. I think he could bring alot to the table with experience he can share with the other backs about this offense about to be installed. I also believe he would be a good change of pace RBĀ and a goal line threat that CP is not these days. HeĀ is a big back thatĀ you need in the NFC East i.e. Barber,Ā Jacobs. Granted he has only had 600 plus rushing yards this season but, that does match his rookie season in denver.Ā
I believe thisĀ would be a strong aquistion forĀ Skins given hisĀ history with Shanny. He already knows the system,Ā seems to have his head on straight,Ā not a "ME" player. We could argue all day thatĀ Betts could do the same thing but, Betts does not bring theĀ experience of the system in to play likeĀ Bell does. I believe with onlyĀ 400 plus carries in his career he could be a big back and stepping stone for many years to come.
Let me know what yall think of this possible aquisition.Ā
