Dave Meltzer of Yahoo! Sports was the first to report on the scheduling adjustment for last season’s “The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights” coaches.
Originally penciled in to meet at UFC 107 in Jackson’s hometown of Memphis, Tennessee, the bout was officially canceled when Jackson decided to “retire” from MMA after accepting the role of B.A. Baracus in the upcoming ‘A-Team’ movie.
The trash-talking between Jackson and Evans was a season long ordeal that at times overshadowed the contestants who were fighting for a six-figure UFC contract.
“UFC 113: Machida vs. Rua II” was looking like the best card of the year, with basically two headlining bouts on the same card, and that could be the reason why the UFC decided to move the bout back to May 29th.
The Jackson vs. Evans bout is the only contest rumored for UFC 114 thus far.
Here’s how an updated UFC 113 card looks without the Jackson vs. Evans bout:
When: May 1, 2010
Where: Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Sam Stout vs. Jeremy Stephens
Patrick Cote vs. Alan Belcher
Marcus Davis vs. Jonathan Goulet
Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson vs. Matt Mitrione
Josh Koscheck vs. Paul Daley
Mauricio “Shogun” Rua vs. Lyoto Machida (UFC Light Heavyweight Champion)
