Trading For Another Blueliner Could Also Spark Sabres Offense
Watching NHL-Videos from Europe regularly isn't that easy as I wish it would be. So I rather use to watching games via online-tv, specialy sabres-tv. According with some of the game discussion blogs and the different articles about the sabres blue liners I started focusing on the sabres defensmen play, when the opponents score.
In fact there seems to be a better chance for the other teams to score, when the blueline-pairing is Rivet - Butler than other pairings. Many times a poor positioning game of Rivet results in Butler making the "wrong desicion" and opening shotlanes and spots.
On the other hand the sabres miss a real blueline quaterback, which Rivet is far away from, that leads to another odd situation. Vanek, the team leading goalscorer of the last few years has struggled the first half of this season. Many of Vaneks goals have come on the power play - what in fact doesn't happen yet. Probably a D-man-trade could fill in here perfect and rise the pp-output.

Could Nemec Get an Offer Sheet? 🤔
Trading for a solid blueliner who is capable of quaterbacking the pp, could bring in two assets in one trade. By trading Rivet (what of course is unlikely to happen) there would be enough of cap-space for a big deal, could spark Butlers play as well as the number of sabres pp-goals and help on the defensive end as well.
I'm looking forward for your comments and expectations which d-man could be it.
As come the Olympic Games as well as trading deadline we'll see. Hopefully the Sabres keep on playing solid above .500 hockey - and, try for a real run for the cup.
I keep watching nhl-tv from good old Europe and looking forward to purchase tickets for the stanley-cup finals at hsbc-arena sooner or later.
