Arrigo's Packers Mock V9.0
Well, it is time for my Mock v9.0. The Packers have the 23rd pick in the draft and have four major needs, corner back, safety, offensive tackle and return specialist.
I have decided to do what I think Ted Thompson would do (except make a few trades on draft day). It may not make Packers fans happy, but when has Thompson ever made 110% of Packers fans happy?
I, again, have given the Packers a comp pick in round 5 for Colin Cole. I didn't include any potential signings or trades because I didn't want to try and guess what Thompson would do.

So here it is, my Packers mock, version 9.0. I will have a complete first round mock up either tonight or tomorrow here at Joe's Lockerroom and thanks again for the great feedback on the latest OTS!!
Joe
Round 1: Taylor Mays- S- USC: It may have been the high expectations for Mays, or the knee injury, but Mays' senior year, like the Trojans 09' campain, was nothing like he expected. He was the player Ted Thompson coveted in the 09' draft when the Packers were picking 9th over all. Mays is still a freak with the size of a linebacker and the speed of a corner. Mays is a perfect fit for Dom Capers strong safety requirements and would be an upgrade over Atari Bigby and would give the Packers one of the best young safety tandems in the NFL. Remember, Mays was regarded as the top prospect coming into the season and to get him at 23 would be a steal.
Round 2: Donovan Warren- DB- Michigan: Warren is a play-making corner that the Packers need to have to add depth to the corner position. He has good size, 6'0/194, and decent speed (4.4 range), but his ball skills are his best assest. He would come in and compete for the nickle (or dime) role depending on how far along Al Harris is in his recovery.
Round 3: Rodger Saffold- OT- Indiana: Rumors are Saffold was showing some very solid skills at the Shrine practices and Ted Thompson was there. Saffold has good size (6'5/312) and good mobility.
Round 4: Akwasi Owusu-Ansah- CB- Indiana (PA): A playmaker that has it all and is an outstanding return man. He is a ball hawk that may rise up draft boards after the combine. This kid is the definition of "Packer People" (and I HATE that saying).
Round 5 ( a ): Joique Bell- RB- Wayne State (MI): Another player that can return kicks and punts as well. He won the Harlon Hill Award as the best player in DII after leading all NCAA divisions with rushing ypg (189.45), scoring pg (17.5) and all purpose yards per game (217.5).
Round 5 ( b ): Trindon Holliday- WR/KR- LSU: He is small, but man is he fast. His value is in the return game as one of the best return specialist in the draft.
Round 6: Arthur Moats- OLB- James Madison: A player that can get after the quarterback and is a perfect fit in a 3-4 as a linebacker. He made need some time to develop, but he can be a pass rush specialist right away.
Round 7: Stafon Johnson- RB- USC: Johnson nearly lost his life in a weight room accident and was forced to sit out the Trojans remaining games, and their running game suffered without him. Johnson is not a burner, but he is a grinder that can get the tough yard and has a knack for finding the end zone.
