Tim Tebow: As an Admirer, I Ask You One Thing: Please, Watch Your Step
I know I'm going to catch heat for my first article. Especially since the subject is one of the most revered college players we've seen in a long time, and this is a touchy subject with many people. But somebody has to draw the line, and if you have an issue with me, deal with it.
I'm here to write about subjects that matter to me. If you disagree, do so. But control yourself, please. If there's one thing I have little patience for, it's stupidity
An anti-abortion ad during the super bowl? Honestly?
Tim Tebow, you are the most revered college athlete in the country. You are a model christian (though I could really care less about your faith). You were, for three years, the leader of the Florida Gators football team, and you were a great one, too.
But this, my friend, is too much.
After denouncing abortion by relaying his mother's refusal to abort even when recommended, he reportedly ends his ad with "Celebrate family. Celebrate life."
Honestly, Tim? So, if we support abortion in the case of life or death of the mother, we're celebrating death? Really? That's something Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh would say. I expected better from you, Mr. Tebow.
People claim abortion is murder and they have a legitimate argument. I happen to oppose abortion, unless the mother's life is in danger, but that's beside the point. People turn on their television to watch the top teams from the NFC and AFC play and some killer ads in between.
Who wants to see a political ad during the Super Bowl?
Tim Tebow. I've always had much respect for you. You were not the typical athlete that sees nothing but dollar signs. But this ad can, and will, be interpreted by many as an attack upon those who don't oppose abortion. Regardless of whether or not this was your intention, the deed is done. This was not a wise decision.
I wish you the best, Tim. I also wish to give you one bit of advice.
People don't like having religion force-fed to them by people. Please, tread carefully, lest you be viewed as such.
