Tebow's Anticipated Super Bowl Ad Strikes a Nerve With Some, But Not Me

Mark PepponiJan 19, 2010

Tim Tebow has proven to me that he is as genuine as anyone could be. I don't know the man personally, but I wouldn't mind spending a day with him to see just what makes him tick.Ā

I find it astounding that theĀ man can practice what he preaches, day in and day out. I find it inspiring thatĀ this man is not afraid of backlash, and can go ahead and speak his mind on serious topics. I wish I had the stones to step outside my comfort zone sometimes and do the same

Detractors always come up with same argument with Tebow. How do you know he really is all about that stuff? How do you know he really does all that stuff? The answer is, I don't really know at all. The truth is, I believe what he has shown me to be genuine, and I CHOOSE to believe it.Ā

This Super Bowl, Tebow and his mother, Pam, are scheduled to make a pitch on National television forĀ a Christian group called Focus on the Family. Some are saying that the ad will have anti-abortion messages that are clearly making some uncomfortable.

To me, I applaud Tim and Pam for having the guts to stay the course on things most precious to them. If that involves anti-abortion, then so be it.Ā

People have called him a hypocrite, a phony, etc. Based on what, I ask?

I will continue to support Tim Tebow, and respect that messages that he sends out. Do I agree with all of them? Not all of them. Do I hold him in high regard for having he stones to lay it on the line when everyone around him is trying to poke hole in Superman's cape? Absolutely!

You know, perhaps another athlete we call know and have grown to idolize over the years could spend a few days with Tim. Perhaps This guy in question would learn a few things about values, priorities, family, and coming clean. Maybe said gentleman could lean a few things from Tim.

Perhaps this man is Tiger Woods. If you keep talking Tim, most of us will listen. Those who don't are entitled to that right as well.Ā
