Chan Gailey-Buffalo Bills: Coaching Update, Is Gailey The Man?
Less than 24 hours after I poured my heart into an article about Leslie Frazier becoming the next Buffalo Bills head coach, news surfaced (via Buffalo Bills beat writer Mark Gaughan of The Buffalo News) that Chan Gailey has emerged as the clubhouse leader in the Buffalo Bills head coaching search.
Talk about a run-on sentence.

Interesting.
This news may fizzleālike the countless other "reports" we've heard the past two monthsābut let's take a real quick look at the logic behind Chan Gailey coming to Buffalo.
(This could be another pointless article, but I gotta give ya something.)
GM Buddy Nix has made it clear that he wants a guy with head coaching experience. Gailey certainly has that. He was the Dallas Cowboys head coach, where he made the playoffs twice, but he was fired when he failed to secure a postseason victory. He coached Georgia Tech from 2002-07.
He's got an offensive background. Granted, I'm of the thought that the next Bills head coach doesn't necessarily need to be an offensive guru, but there's no doubt the Bills' offense is what needs fixing.
Gailey was the O-coordinator in Miami in 2001 when the Fish went 11-5 and was successful calling plays in Pittsburgh before that.
He was fired as the Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator in a Turk Schonert-esque way, days prior to the start of the 2009 season. The Chiefs went 4-12 and ranked 25th in total offense.
Some may dislike it, but if it does happen, Gailey's certainly got what Nix wants in the next Buffalo Bills head coach.
Please, coaching search, end. I'm getting a headache and want the "offseason" to officially start.
What do you think?
