Good evening Raider nation. If you were unable to answer the qusetion to this article let me help you out. The number one asset you want in the head coach is to be able to motivate  players. As a head coach in the NFL you have to be able to motivate players that are getting paid more then you in most cases. Motivate players that have seen it all. Motivate players that have nothing to play for. Early in the 2009 season the Raider's being led by Jamarcus Russell a lot of players already knew with Russell at the helm this team had no shot at making the playoff's.

With the playoff's out of reach a lot of the team could have packed it in and started preparing for the long vacation's in foriegn country's. Instead of packing it in they played hard. The coach knowing the team needed a spark benched the so called future of the team. Even knowing the Jamarcus was the love of Al Davis life he still benched him because he knew this team had no chance with him. With the benching the team responded playing some of it's best football toward's the end of the season.

Another asset you want in the head coach is the players respecting that coach. When the season ended the rumor's started flying that Cable would be let go. A variety of head coach's name's started floating around from Jim Fassell to Steve Mariucci. The player's knowing that Cable was on the so called hot seat voiced how they wanted Cable to be back. The last few Oakland Raider head coach's had no such luck. I cant remember any one player asking for Art Shell, Norv Turner, Lane Kiffin and so on to be kept.

Let me finish with this. Cable is not the best head coach out there. He doesnt have the hardware to be called on of the best. But he is the best for this Raider team and let me tell you why. He motivate's, player's respect him and he has the ball's to bench Al's favorites. Another reason why is the best for this job is because not a lot of people would want to be under Al's thumb. Cable was stretched to thin last year and need's help just like Al need's help running the team. Give Cable a capable O cordiantor and Al a GM to help him and this team will be headed in the right direction. If Cable is fired this is just another mistake that will set this team back another couple of year's.
